The Luos
With my newest character, Ko the Luos, I decided I'd answer a couple questions regarding the Luos. If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask. :3
What is a Luos?
A Luos is a creature that is born with its soul outside of its body in the form of a pearl-like jewel known as a Soul Stone. Their bodies always resemble a hybrid of various creatures, but many are in the form of furry lizards/dragons at their base. The Luos exist in a dimension parallel to our own, a world where the land and sea are reversed. As a result it is possible that folks from our world may have a Luos counterpart as well. Not everybody has a Luos counterpart and vice-versa. Ko is an example of a Luos with no equivalent in our world. (I'm going to say that if you want your character to have a Luos counterpart, then one exists.)
A Luos hatches from an egg, but is a warm-blooded creature. The egg itself is different from something like a bird egg. An egg's color suggests what elemental affinity the Luos possesses. A Luos is born with an elemental affinity of fire, water, ice (being separate in this case), wind, earth, or lightning. When a Luos hatches, a portion of the egg shell will become the stone that houses their soul, thereby becoming its Soul Stone.
A Luos' body possesses the ability to evolve and change over time, often times reflecting their very soul. The features they gain or lose over the course of their evolution more often than not relates to what they're doing. Example: If a Luos desires the ability to fly, they will grow wings. If they want to live in the ocean, their bodies will take on the feature of something more aquatic. If they have to struggle to survive, their fangs and claws will grow and their bodies may take on a more feral form.
What is a Soul Stone?
A Luos' Soul Stone is its most precious possession. The Soul Stone is the very soul of the Luos itself. The stone is very difficult to break for obvious reasons, but there are things that can damage it. Damaging it may not kill the Luos, but it can greatly affect and destroy their sanity. If you hold a Luos' Soul Stone for ransom, they're pretty much yours to command. For this reason, most Soul Stones are kept close at all times, more often than not as a necklace.
Some Luos possess the ability to socket their Soul Stone into the equipment they wear, causing it to form a weapon. For those Luos who can link their soul, their weapons are extremely heavy to all but their original owner. The weapons are virtually indestructible, but a weapon cannot be “despawned” unless the Luos makes contact with it. A Luos separated from their weapon is much more defenseless. It is possible for a Luos to link another's soul with their own body, but doing so often causes a rejection that ultimately destroys the other's Soul Stone, thereby killing them.
When a Luos finds the one they want they to spend their life with, they often exchange their Soul Stones, showing how much they trust the other. It goes without saying that such a display of love and devotion means that a Luos mates for life.

Time to level up my pickpocketing! =D

Good luck in taking one, Joey. Ko's chain would requires something capable of cutting a soul to break, and most Luos are overly protective of their Soul Stone. :P

What about when he sleeps?

OP
A Luos' Soul Stone is sensitive to the touch. If anything touches it, they'll know, even if they're asleep.

Chloroform!

Problem is, Joey, you're not somebody strong enough to get away with it. :P Luos aren't stupid and are natural born fighters. They're more than capable of defending themselves. Plus, when you touch a Soul Stone, it's like sending sending an electric shock to their brain. Even if you knocked one out with something like chloroform, they'd still wake from something like that. Having somebody touch your soul is not a pleasant experience. You really aren't going to wrestle one away from a Luos without a fight. You'd need something extremely strong holding them down to simply take it.

So they lay eggs? I'm guessing that makes for quick pregnancy tests.

Yes, they lay eggs. :P
