Why the give away? Just feeling generous or does the game no longer have the appeal it used to?

I keep reinstalling the game, playing it for a day, then realizing its god damn retarded these days.

Yeah I feel that way about games sometimes, most FPS no longer appeal to me because I enjoy FPS for a competitive reason, last FPS I truly enjoyed was Unreal Tournament 2004 due to the skillcap and multiple game types, maps, level editor out of the box (user created content was some of the truly best stuff ever), but right now I find Quake Live suits me, its basically Quake 3 Arena with a very very VERY few minor tweaks. I find myself for once enjoying an FPS cause I dislike a lot of the modern stuff. Trick is to find something you truly like or at least can tolerate, but you probably already know that.

Makes enough sense, I am done for good for similar reasons.

Which is a factor that drove me away the first time I ditched the game. I wished the hat bullshit would just stop..

It's Valve realizing that people don't really want to play the game any more, so they're extending it's lifetime as a "cash cow" for as long as possible.

Just like Call of Duty is to Activision.

Thing is that once you give away your items you'll start wanting to play again.
