Oh, if they threaten too much, you can catch them on that.. sue them, and then they get to eat their debt.

Seek out debt protection plans, Theres so many laws that protect the consumer from those vile vultures... You're protected, no matter what they threaten, Theres really nothing at all that they can actually do... Record their conversations, if they mention anything that sounds really nasty .. you've won.

Harrasment is a great way to sue them... and only costs you a few fees in small claims court and a couple of forms.. Worth a couple of grand each time they do it.

Can a collection agency charge you extra?

No. Collection agencies cannot add any charges. They are allowed to collect only what you owe your creditor. But remember, the amount you owe could continue to grow if interest charges are piling up. This depends on the terms of your contract with your creditor.

Sometimes those Small Claims court summons type documents are not real .. an empty threat .. and Illegal for them to do.

Ah thanks a lot. I keep all the documentation (obviously) And I also have the transaction numbers for the payments I have sent them. So that right there is a nice kick in the teeth for them.
