CastleVania: Lords Of Shadow 2 - I Can Die Happy
13 years ago
So I came. Really really hard, because I thought this was a rumor and well, here it is hahahaa
We all know that Gabriel Belmont turns into Dracula at the end of Lords of Shadow (spoilers, but I think the trailer for 2 gives it away). He does it to save the world, and he has the power of both the Vampires and the Forgotten One in his grasp, as well as his hatred for God, after the sacrifices, and honestly, the manipulation he was put through to end Satan's ultimate plan for conquest.
My theory is that you don't fight as Gabriel, since he is now Dracul, but you 'do' fight as the lone, white-haired warrior with the sword at the end of the trailer, who is comparable and most likely purposefully resembles Alucard. this isn't normal canon, so anything is possible! But the way that LoS tended to stick to, then twist the original canon makes me think that it isn't Alucard, but somebody with similar connection and power that will eventually seal Dracul away for the ending cutscene in the original Lords of Shadow, and possibly help him and Zobek out in the present world against the impending return of Satan in either this, or a new installment (LoS3?)
Whatever they end up doing, after the first game, I have strong faith that this one will be just as, if not more amazing. I know that I'm in the minority that liked the LoS timeline as much, if not more than the original, but damn does this have me excited haha
lol Okay, off to CaliFur for the weekend with a great start!
FA+

If yes, stay the hell away. This is God of War in a Castlevania-esque skin.
If no, give it a try.
If indifferent, go for it. Taken by itself, it's a fun game.
Bottom line, for me? If I wanna play God of War, I'll just pop in God of War.
But that's just me, I guess.
Lords of Shadow is still one of my favorite games to date, slightly under Super CastleVania, and I've been a fan of CV since the first. Not sure what that warrants, but as a fan, I'm eagerly awaiting this. Hell, I rarely game these days, and I'm eagerly awaiting this lol
That guy's armor IS similar to Alucard's (Black and yellow Black and yellow Black and yellow Black and yellow)
interesting, I like the first one so i'll prolly pick this one up too
Also, as a long-time fan it was really cool to see how Dracula was created and COMPLETELY explains why he has contempt and hatred of God in a very sensible and even understandable way . Also seems like Gabriel has gone through vilification by humanity and has become ridiculously strong
I thought it was a bold move and didn't see it coming. the ending and the events leading up to his battle with Satan does give justification for Gabriel to feel like he's been a tool of God, the entire time. His wife was murdered, he endured tons of shit throughout the course of the game, it makes you really think that the true villain was indeed God himself.
We do know that Gabriel does seal himself away in that chapel tower at the ending of LoS1, so I'm guessing that this continues from where Resurrection left off, and shows his time as Vlad the Impaler, Defier of God. And most likely "Alucard" will set him straight, or at least straight enough to seal himself away and weaken in the modern times cutscene.
It also has given me a push to go back to the original LoS to try to finish it. I enjoyed it to a point, but stopped playing after one boss kept kicking my ass and I got frustrated. Always meant to return to it, but then some other games came along. :P (I guess I'm not a l33t gamer anymore... 8) ).
They're starting to build up steam. O:
I would be a permanent tripod right now, but there's only one question... IS ZOBEK GOING TO APPEAR?
Seriously though, I enjoyed the first game tremendously. Even as a pretty hardcore fan of the original CV timeline, it was refreshing to see a new, different take on the mythos. (especially the game's mid-section. Get ALL the references!) But it's fairly solid as a stand alone game from the rest of the series, as any reboot should. Great characters, great game play, great storyline, great world, great Patrick Stewart. Just fuckin' great.
This trailer has definitely wet my appetite. ...and my pants.
Also on a nerdy side point: If we're not playing as Gabriel, but rather mystery-albino-sword-man, and Gabriel is now known as Dracul meaning "The Dragon", that means that if white haired dude is Gabriel's son (maybe long shot there), then we could in actual fact be playing as Dracula, "Son of The Dragon".
The more you know~
Japanese developers have the bad habit of sneaking day-glo lighting and clothing on everything while American developers have the bad habit of putting over-the-top drag queen armors (see diablo 3) and steroid abuse.
The only critique I have for LOS (apart from having 0% originality and 0% replayability) is that it feels like an Anne Rice vampire novel: The guys wear absurdely detailed clothing/boots while the women might as well wear an empty flour sac with cutouts for the arms and the head.
