A typical morning's adventuring
Brave Sir Squirrelot and good King Richard rode their horses through the woods to the corner of the garden where the evil knight Abu was holding Princess Susie captive. "Go get him, Sir Squirrelot!" commanded the king.
"Aha!" chirped the brave knight, waving his sword, "I've found you!"
"Ha! You'll never rescue the princess!" roared evil knight Abu, while Princess Susie sat on the grass and played with her doll, "I'm a dragon now and I'm gonna eat you! Raaaaaaar!"
"Eek!" Sir Squirrelot squeaked, and ran away as quickly as he could toddle.
"Haha, you're not brave!" the dragon giggled, chasing after him.
"I'm brave AND clever!" Sir Squirrelot boasted, as soon as he was far enough away. "Look, King Richard's rescued the princess!" He proudly pointed back to the dragon's lair, where the king and the princess were hurrying away, with Princess Susie complaining that King Richard had pulled her arm too roughly and she was going to tell Mommy.
"Oh!" the dragon growled, realising he'd been tricked. "Well, I've caught Zee-Zee now!" he called to the royal couple, while grabbing Sir Squirrelot's tail, "And now you've gotta rescue him!"
"Wait, I need my potty!" Sir Squirrelot told the dragon.
"Uh-uh, you're not gonna be clever with me again!" the fierce dragon roared. "You're staying here and when King Richard comes to save you I'm gonna eat him up!"
"No, really!" Sir Squirrelot squeaked, crossing his legs. "I gotta go!"
"Oh, okay," said the dragon, letting go of the brave knight's tail and pointing back to Richard and Susie's house. "Hurry up, then!"
Sir Squirrelot clip-clopped away to the house as fast as he could, saying "I'll be quick!" He hoped King Richard and Knight Abu didn't think he was being a baby for having to interrupt the game like this, because they were four whole years old and it was very important to the brave knight that the big boys thought he was a big boy too. He was very proud that he'd remembered to go potty and hadn't wet his pull-up in front of them! But as he scurried through the open back door of the house, Sir Squirrelot realised that he faced his bravest adventure of all!
The grown-up potty in King Richard's house was taller than the one at his own house next door, and a different colour and it made a slightly different kind of sound when you flushed it, and the one time he'd used it before he really hadn't liked it and he'd wanted Mommy to take him home to go potty instead. But brave knights don't get scared of different potties, so our hero bravely climbed up the stairs to the bathroom. Richard and Susie's house was exactly the same shape as Zee-Zee's, which was what made the different potty somehow all the more scary, but at least there was no chance of getting lost. "Brave Knight Sir Squirrelot!" he cheered aloud to keep up his spirits as he jumped up to pull the door handle down.
But eek! The door didn't move! "Just a minute!" called a voice from inside the bathroom.
"I need the potty!" whimpered Sir Squirrelot, bravely bouncing up and down and trying not to wet himself.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Zee-Zee," said Mrs Rabbit's voice. "Try to hold on for just a second, there's a good boy!"
"I'm a big brave knight and knights don't have accidents!" our hero called back, although he felt an embarrassing little trickle in his pull-up. He squeezed his legs together and tried to think dry thoughts.
The slightly scary sound of the toilet flush came from the other side of the locked door, and brave Sir Squirrelot squeaked bravely as the door opened. "What a big brave knight you are, you came to the potty all by yourself!" Mrs Rabbit cooed, picking the surprised knight up and carrying him quickly to the big potty. As she quickly whipped off his shorts and pull-up and held him over the slightly scary (but not to a big brave knight) bowl, she said "It's a good thing you're not wearing your suit of armour, Sir Squirrelot!"
Sir Squirrelot giggled as he used the potty like a big boy. Definitely less than half had got into his pull-up, he calculated, so it most definitely wasn't an accident. And Mrs Rabbit told him he was a good big boy as she helped him into a new clean pull-up, so that proved it! With that out of the way, our hero chirped "Time to save the day again! Brave knight away!" and started to ride his horse back down the stairs.
"I was just about to bring some snacks out to you all," Mrs Rabbit said. "Do you think you can carry the tray all by yourself?" She followed Sir Squirrelot into the kitchen and pointed to a tray containing a plate of cookies, two sippy cups and two big-boy plastic beakers.
The knight sized up the difficult task. A big giant tray, with two lidless cups of juice, without spilling? "Yes!" he squeaked, bravely. "I'm a big knight!"
And so he made his way verrrrrry slowly and carefully back to the garden, where King Richard was suggesting that they should be Robin Hood now and rescue Maid Susie, and Knight Abu was complaining that that was the exact same game as knights, and they should do something different. "You were years!" Richard said, hearing the door open. "Did you wet your..."
"Nope!" brave Sir Squirrelot boasted. "I found treasure!" He carefully put the tray down on the grass, barely spilling any juice at all, and the others hurried excitedly over.
"Treasure! We can be pirates!" Pirate Richard cheered as he grabbed a cookie. "And we'll have to protect our treasure from other pirates, and they can kidnap Susie!"
"Stop making me kidnap your sister!" Pirate Abu complained, sitting down by the tray.
Pirate Squirrelot giggled happily, drinking from his sippy. The hero had saved the day once more!
