Policies/Rules:
- All of my craft offerings will be PG. If you want something adult, you'll have to commission someone else.
- All of my work has a custom aspect to it, so things won't always be identical to previous versions or examples.
- I try to be courteous to everyone that stops by or orders something from me, but for antagonistic or otherwise rude people, I make a slight exception. I will ignore you. I don't need drama.
- I generally don't do returns unless it's my fault that something happened to the product you've ordered. There is a reason I usually spend a day to a week checking things for faults or defects before sending them out to you. There's also a reason I offer shipping insurance. If there really is a problem though, please contact me.
- I usually require payment up front. If this is really a problem, please contact me about it.
- I only accept payment through paypal currently because it's the most common form of payment. If you can't use paypal, please contact me with the options available to you, and we'll work something out.
- I can and will do trades, but I am picky, and have every right to be, just as you do, so please be considerate when asking for one, and understand that I might not have any need for what you have available at the time. I don't say that to be mean, it's just the facts of life.
- I try to ship your purchase the cheapest, fastest, most efficient way possible, so you still get the product quickly and safely, without paying a ton. If you ask for extra options though, you will be required to pay for them. If you feel the shipping price for my items is too high, you're welcome to suggest a cheaper option, but I only offer free shipping during certain sales.
- In general, I don't offer bulk discounts (except on shipping) because I try to keep my prices low to begin with. In some cases though, I will offer a discount on multiple items as either a sale, or when I feel it's in everyone's best interests.
- Please don't ask me to lower my prices. I've already done so to the point that I hardly make a profit at all. And with many of my sales, I actually have the potential to lose money, so don't insult me by asking me to knock the price down. I understand this is a tough economy, but I'm trying to be fair.
- I am perfectly fine with suggestions or ideas or discussion about my products. If you think I can improve them, I'd be glad to know how and try it. Don't be afraid to critique my work if you have an idea for how to improve it, but also please be courteous; there's no need to berate me or put down my efforts.
- Prices change as the market changes. Availability, price increases for supplies, limited availability, added features, effort, and other factors all affect the price of things. I try to post a journal about it, or put a note somewhere or something, but sometimes I forget. If you notice a price difference, and haven't seen me post about it, you can always note me about it if you like.
- I am a chatty person, in general, so if I talk too much, sorry. By the same token though, you're always welcome to chat me up. I love making friends :3 Just keep it in your pants. I'm a crafter, not an e-date.
FAQ:
Q: Why do your products cost so much?
A: My prices are based on cost of supplies and effort required to make them. I usually keep them quite low, so if you think they're too high, I'm not sure what you're using as a basis for comparison, but you're always welcome to shop elsewhere.
Q: You don't make <insert product here>, but I want one. Now what?
A: I try to befriend or at least find other crafters around the internet, so I'd be happy to find someone who makes it for you, if possible. Sometimes I am willing to learn to make new products if I think it's feasible for me.
Q: Your shipping is too high! Make it free!
A: My shipping rates are far lower than they used to be, and at $2.50, I really can't go much lower. Also, to make shipping "free" I'd either have to incorporate it into the product cost, or pay for it out of pocket and go broke, and I really don't think you want that. If you do, you're kind of mean.
Q: What makes up the cost of your shipping options?
A: The cost of shipping itself ($1.95+), and the cost of the packaging. Yes, I realize many people don't charge extra for their shipping materials, but they either absorb the cost by upping the price of their work, or they use the cheapest materials possible, or both. I use cheap materials, but I try to make sure your package is as safe as possible so your commissioned piece doesn't get destroyed.
Q: Teach me how to make <insert product here>
A: I tend to avoid teaching in general. I'm not very good at it, and most of the things I make took me a long time to figure out, so I feel I have a right to keep my skills and techniques to myself. I might share tips, but I'd rather not give you a full-on tutorial for everything I make.
Q: I really like your company, can I be a part of it?
A: Um, not quite. I'd be happy to add you as an affiliate, but I don't take on employees or proteges or anything, and I certainly can't pay you to work for me.
Q: I love your work, can I help you?
A: Sure, depending on what kind of help you want to give. I'm always happy to have someone to talk to or give me ideas.
Q: I could make what you make for way cheaper!
A: Then you must have some awesome deals on supplies, or you're skipping a lot of steps. I put a LOT of thought into my work to make sure it holds up for a long time, and comes out as good as I can possibly make it come out. I've done countless trials for materials and mixtures and methods, and will continue to do so to ensure my products are my best work at all times. Still, if you want to make your own, go for it. I encourage creativity.
Q: Why don't you make this thing that so-and-so makes? You already make things similar to it. Theirs are more expensive, so you could make a cheaper version couldn't you?
A: Frankly, while I do love to be inspired by others' work, and maybe even make my own version of it (to see how, or to try something different that I think would be cooler), I don't think it's morally right to rip off someone else's idea and pass it off as my own. I see far too much of that already and get very, very upset about it. Part of the reason I make the things I do is to prove that you don't have to rip off everyone else's ideas just to make a quick buck. I prefer having my own versions of things, or making an improved version of something, not just up and stealing their ideas.
Q: I've seen the same things you make somewhere else. Did they rip you off, or vice versa?
A: First of all, tons of people have the same ideas about crafts and wind up with similar or even identical products. That doesn't mean that one of them stole the idea from the other. Sometimes that does happen, sadly, but not always. I get inspiration for my products from a loooot of places, but as stated before, I try to always make my own version, not just a knockoff of someone else's work.
Q: You should give out free stuff so people will watch you and buy things from you.
A: I already do, just nobody seems to notice.
Q: I bought something from you, received it in the mail, it's still in good condition, but now I don't want it, I want a refund.
A: Buyer's remorse is your problem, not mine.
Q: I ordered something from you, but you haven't finished it yet and I can't afford it now, halp.
A: Since I usually take payment up front, you can just cancel the order. No big. If I started on it before you paid me (I usually don't ask for payment on bottles or candles until they're partly done, unless they're big custom jobs), then we'll have to negotiate based on the situation. Just note me.
Q: I ordered something and paid you, but you're not done with it yet, and I need the money back!
A: Things happen, and I totally understand. If I haven't shipped it yet, you can ask me about cancelling the order, but depending on what you ordered, there are different rules attached. Bottle pendants and candles are probably okay to cancel. Costumes on the other hand, you will only get a partial refund, because we've likely already invested your payment into materials for it. I can't return a cut up pile of scrap fabric, so I can't refund all your money.
Q: I ordered something, but I changed my mind and want it to look different, can you change it for me?
A: That depends on how far along I am on your piece. If what you want it to look like would require me to start over, then no, I can't change it. There are certain circumstances in which I would still allow it, but they are somewhat rare, and we'd need to discuss it first, so please tell me these sorts of things as soon as they come up.
Q: You screwed up my order! How dare you?!
A: I always double check the details of an order before I start it, and show it to you before I ship it to make sure it's what you want. If I did somehow screw it up though (maybe I sent you someone else's order) I will fix the error as soon as possible. Don't worry, if I really did screw it up, I'll pay to fix it. I'm not that mean.
Q: You did something I don't like, I'm going to tell everyone not to order from you, and get all my friends to come yell at you, and get you back for what you did! Unless you do this for me, then I won't do it.
A: o.0 I'm PG, I'm talkative, I'm nice, and my stuff is cheap. What on earth did I do? Still... if you want to go that far, I'm going to block you and all of your friends that harass me, and report you, and believe me, I'm not afraid to do so. I know security here can be quite lax, but I have ways.
Q: How long will my order take?
A: Every one of my crafts takes a different amount of time, and every order is a little different. If I have all the supplies I need right here, and plenty of free time, I should have a bottle or other small order done within 3 days. If I need to buy some supplies first, that time might get extended until I can go to the store to pick them up. If I'm not at home (i.e. at my fiance's house or a friend's place), I can't work on any orders until I get home, but if you need me to start working on it immediately, please tell me so I can make my best effort to get home soon and work on it. If I'm on vacation, that means I'm way too far away to just go home and work, so I will put up a journal when I'm going to be out of town. Also, if I have a huge order list, it might take me longer to get to you.
Q: I need my order done before everyone else! Can I pay extra for you to put a rush on it?
A: No, but I'll explain why. If 100 people ordered stuff, and the last 90 of them bribed me to put a rush on their order, I'd still be backed up, and the first 10 people would be stuck waiting forever. Wouldn't you hate to be one of those 10?
Q: You're taking forever, what's the hold up?!
A: Am I at home? Is there an emergency going on? Is my shop closed? Am I on hiatus? Did someone kidnap my neighbor's cat and now she's got me out looking for the thing from sunup til sundown? If you really feel I'm taking too long, and that I haven't given any good reasons for it, please contact me directly. I don't like making people wait, but I am a living breathing human being on the same planet as the rest of humanity, so I do have real life problems that occur.
Q: I ordered something, but I don't think it's worth what you're asking, so I'm only going to give you X amount of money. When can you have it finished?
A: Never.
Q: I ordered something, but now someone else sells them cheaper! I want a refund of the difference!
A: No. You chose to buy from me for whatever reasons you chose to do so. It's not my responsibility to make up for whatever you feel you've lost by not shopping around first. Besides, my prices are pretty fair, in my opinion. If anything, I get the short end of the stick.
