Reading that journal I was just sobbing my heart out.

I was really wondering if there was a ChipIn set up for the families somewhere, or a donation fund? I'd seen a couple of mentions on the papers of people talking about setting up a fund at one of the banks, and didn't know if that had happened.

I'd really love to help and cross-promote on my dog channels - there's a lot of dog folks out there who have read this story and really want to help the families out. A couple of my Corgi friends heard about it up here in Seattle... the story's getting some regional attention.

Nods -- the problem is that as a small business person, this is her work account, and I want to make sure that she isn't going to end up paying taxes to the IRS on this from funds we raise for her. It could be a VERY sticky mess. I've set up a few of these for dog rescues and so on, and I'd be happy to get it done legally and something page wise set up for Facebook as well that can get out to the general public easier. This story is horrific, and like I said, there's a ton of people out there that are seeing it on the news.

Let me go talk to my accountant quickly - I know the rules are different in terms of donations state to state. I just don't want the family paying 30 plus percent on taxes on fundraising money if there is a legal channel we have to leap through.

I can totally help you set up a ChipIn and write up something for public notation. If it will work for you, let's PM, and we'll talk over those channels instead of here. I need to run into work this morning but will be back by two.

Admittedly, I havent had the best of luck doing this in the past but Im curious if artists could offer commissions to people who donate to this Paypal account. In my case, my art consists of costume yarn tails. If there is one thing I know about furry is that we love to make and/or buy anthro art and costume items.

That would be wonderful It all helps and everything and anything is appreciated! Donations, kind words etc. I've never done this before so any help or idea is very much appreciated!

My costume tails (yarn) run around $60 for regular yarn and over $100 for the fluffy ones I make.... often that is cost prohibitive because of all the undercutting going on and people wanting fursuit tails rather than yarn. Still, it is worth a try.

I have an idea. There is always this fur bowl meet every 1st of Sunday in Vacaville. I'll try talking to the fursuiters and see if we can help donate some money your way. Once, I finish some commissions, I may do sharpie drawing commissions for donations. So, if any one donates, just let me know I will draw them something for donating. I know it may not be much, but we California furs must stick together and help eachother

Alright^^ I will use the power of my sharpies to bring help *waves a sharpie marker* I wish I can go to the Fremont furbowl, but I have to continue my studies for my pharmacy tech class. I am almost done. I am getting ready to help animals, by making medicine. I shall be starting that around August. I really can't believe this is even happening. I remember first meeting :usericonelden: at starz for bowling in vacaville. this is just horrible. He's such a nice guy. I've only gotten to chat with him a couple times and :usericonwolfgem: once. I remember wolfgem specifically showing me photos of her cattledogs. she was so proud and they were so cute. I really hope they find the guy that did this, but even moreso I hope that both of them can move on after this. Elden is a brave and lucky man to be alive but the emotional loss of a limb can be hard to say the least :(

The Sacramento Bee donation account came as a pleasant surprise. There were tax concerns over using beastcubs business account. Any funds donated already will of course be split equally. I will update my journal shortly. Thanks for your concern and support

Is there a guarantee ALL the money is going to beastcub or is the agency or government or whomever swooping in and taking some percentage of the money? That's what I'm concerned about.

Hey, we are sending donations into an address that was posted on a news article.

Sending money via Paypal may not be so wise. They are very strict about donations, and taxation, fees etc. Make sure this won't flag something and cause Paypal to seize the money (they can, will and have done this in the past).

From what I understand from talking to the woman at the paper today, they are going to be helping the family set up a bank account correctly (and hopefully they will be able to do direct deposit, from Paypal or other online pay sources.)

So, yes - donations absolutely sent to the address of the paper will get to the correct place. :)

Awwww.... I just feel bad, I want to help more. I have a bunch of dog show people who have sent checks to the fund, been sharing this as much as I can.

I did donate some to the vet's office today to help with the private cremation of the dogs... I think they still needed donations as of this afternoon. I don't know if anyone here would like the phone number for the vet clinic, but they did say that anything over the amount needed would make it to the family.

I hope they set it up too, I know it would make a huge difference to a lot of people to be able to donate that way.

I would definitely want to contribute. As I'm unable to use the fund address as I'm not from the USA, and would have to use Paypal. If some one has a dedicated paypal account for it, or beastcub is definitely a-ok with funds transferred directly to her paypal account, I send as soon as I can.

I Have heard too many horror stories about not only paypal accounts but attached bank accounts locked due to donations, if that happens to me I am screwed! All our money is in the one bank account!
