WHAT THE FUCK IS..

UP WITH ALL THESE CRAPPY FURSUITS LATELY?
In the past few months I have seen alot of 'fursuit' makers pop up and they are horrible.
I admit I'm not the best, out of 100 points, I'd have to give myself a 75. Latin vixen has to take top billing though, for industry standard of looks (I cannot say anything on her quality, as I have not had any hands on of her suits)
Heads will make or break a suit. You can have a great body suit, or a decent one, but if your fursuit head turns out to be a a load of fur shat out onto a lumpy horrible foam base you have just ruined the suit.
I understand that mis proportioning the head to get a certain style is great, if you can do that style. But a small or overly large muzzle with a massive underbite and a clear visual that the head is from a novice, and the suit will look like crap.
I don't like to mention fursuit makers that have these problems and make bad suits. Believe me, if I could share my skill and knowledge in a disk that you can download into your brain I would. While I want to make money by selling suits and commissions, I want the fandom to have a good reputation of having nice looking suits that don't look like you stole the fur from a diseases leprosy ridden animal that had it's head run over.
Message to all the 'fursuit' makers out there.... Please think of what you are doing by creating suits that induce nightmares in children. Take some time and get your stuff together and not sell suits untill you can get positive comments on them. (Not friends saying 'good job', when obviously they are acting like a parent when a child brings them a paper ridden with crayon scribbles and treat it like the mona lisa) These friends aren't doing any favors for you when they grit their teeth and say "Nice" to a suit that looks like it was curb stomped.
Some suits that are on here shouldn't ever have their picture taken, they are that bad.
Please make decent suits... If you can't, don't post them here

FA+

If that one is yours, it's more than acceptable in my eyes.
I mean bad fursuits like.... bad fursuits. I Don't want to post any links to anyone. But I think that we know what a 'bad' fursuit is.
and i know what you mean i was just being silly *blames the wine*
Only problem is, if not for the badly-airbrushed fur markings, you wouldn't be able to tell what species the head is supposed to be. It looks more like a gnoll with Down's syndrome. He isn't doing his "company" any favors.
I'd rather offer commissions that look like this

Rather than this

(First suit btw)
Don't people care enough about the fandom to have suits that look like they are pieces of art and not made exclusively for sex?
(Yea, other suits that are top of the line do have murr acess, but they are also art)
Now I care about my suit (savannahhyena is my user name) and have made some significant upgrades and changed features of the suit. If you look at my page you'll see EARLY pics of Savannah and he sucked back then. Now? He's good but he needs new feets (which I am getting done by my friends over at Wolf studios aka Ysengrin aka big werewuff stuff ;)
the worst in my eyes is the ones with the cheap fur [craft fur or "fun fur" as it's known at joann's] you know the stuff, about 1/4" pile, backing is like scratchy plasticy doom, and it just looks like crap no matter what you do
having said that... this is my first suit - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4062517/ which used that fur because i didn't know any better. once i got to my first con with it and saw other suits from practiced makers i realized i had to change some things and upgrade my materials.
now i understand everybody starts somewhere, but when you get some kid who really has no idea what they're doing who makes their first head [good for them by the way, that they take the time and effort to at least try] and it doesn't turn out very good at all, who then turns around and says "i'm taking commissions!!!!" well...yeah...
me personally, i will make any part of the suit for someone EXCEPT the head because i haven't practiced enough or gotten my style and technique to the point where i feel comfortable offering them as a commission piece. i've got a pile of about 15-20 "test heads" that have usually not made it past the foaming phase before being rejected by me due to wonky jaw, off eye placement, or just because i wanted to recycle the foam and try that technique again
as a suit maker i know that once i start putting items out there, i'm putting my name and reputation out there with every piece, and i want that name and rep to be associated with quality and not stuff that gives lil kids nightmares or just generally looks like ass.
I ahvent done a horse yet, but I do want to do a zebra at some point.
And good fur is always necessary
and yes, good fur [and foam as well] is key, not only for the look but for durability as well
I am more and more believing that it is not a movie, but a documentary sent back from the future.
I don't watch tv, but I do tend to catch the best tv shows years after they start. (Breaking bad, Eureka stuff like that)
And comfy roo, yay! I seriously need to make myself a new roo...
Because every one of us was bad before he became good. And the ones like me who are bad, were even worse before.
In art we say that every man is born with 10 000 bad drawings inside. To start making good drawings he has to push out the 10 000 bad ones first.
So all those grotesquely misshaped fursuits out there are just the first tries of someone still in the road of learning...
...or the crappy work of someone who will never learn.
But you have to forgive them.
I didn't start selling suits untill I was good enough to have a presentable suit. It took me 4-5 suits to make something good and another 2 more to make it sellable.
My point is, at what point does a crappy suit maker think it's good to sell something that looks that bad?
And how blind are some of these suit buyers that they don't see how bad they look? Ray charles can see how awful some of these are.
I'm not going to hide my words for these suits anymore.
If you are making crappy suits, make them, just don't sell them until they are an acceptable level. Acceptable means decent sized head to the body, and the muzzles don't look like they were stretched and smashed with a sledge hammer.
There is little that can be do about it.
I feel the same when I see a classic car desecrated by a tacky paint job and a set of over-sized chrome wheels on the road. I feel like blasting the owner with a bazooka, but it's his money and his choice to waste it in that way... And his right to hurt everyone's eyes with the result.
You know, the one that looks like a jump-suit made out of shag that's 3 sizes too big? Waist around the knee area?
Then there's the "sculpted" look ones, foam-filled probably, that look awesome. But yeah, the heads... tricky to get right.
And then there's the dragons - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5nl_Z3kcSw
but i wouldnt do that cause i dont like to make waves -o-
I'm going to give it a go, but if it looks horrible, I'll just end up chopping it up and giving the cat a new bed. Then it'll be on to stuffing more dimes than pennies in the savings jar to save up for a proper suit. And you can count on the fact that even if I somehow accidentally get it to look okay, I won't be selling my services.
Photos? Yes. Videos? Sure. Fursuits? Uh... no.
