I've never had any kind of history with this game, but back around the time when the PS2 compilation called "Sega Genesis Collection" came out, it was pleasant to hear it whenever I chose to play this game.

This was the iteration in the series that never recieved as much acclaim as the other three (Part 1 being a "Master System" (Game Gear) title, and parts 2 and 4 being Sega Genesis titles.). Still, when I played it for the first time I felt obligated to see its better points.

It's very old - one of those ancient types of RPGs where you get into "random battles" as you walk around on the overworld map, or in some smaller areas. I've only played a handful of RPGs like that, many not being from the Sega Genesis or Super Nintendo eras that were heavy with it. Still, I can appreciate the style, as the greater half of any RPG should be its story.
