This shit right here, this freaking entitlement crap. This deserves its very own crazy people, this right there is why i see so many artists dropping out of doing commissions. Customer service is a bitch.
Dear Fellow Fuzzies. EXPECTING something to be pornographic if someone has paid X amount of money for it is CRASS, RUDE AND GET OFF MY DAMN PAGE YOU CREEPY PERV I DO NOT CATER TO THE LIKES OF YOU.
I deal with perverts on a daily basis, you know what the best thing is about my circle of perverts? they're usually GENTLEMEN about it. Dota? Perv, awesome guy. Rylana? perv, also awesome. Forvet? MAJOR perv and a testament to proving to the world that I personally "will draw almost ANYTHING with enough money" also, awesome guy. The list could go on about how MY pervs have enough tact and class or at least listen to me when i say "hey.... getting a little too pervy here" For the most part the best element is RESPECT. they respect me as an artist to do work for them and i in turn respect thier interests. My personal issues rarely come into play when my customers play by the rules of common sense. its so nice to know when my friends know my boundaries.
Not too long ago with a certain PONY picture *AHEM* when i first posted it with the price tag the VERY FIRST COMMENT I got for it because $100 for a digital painting must be highway robbery otherwise was "can you fuck it!!??" ..... no dumbass, you can't, its a non-pornographic picture of a freaking pony... someone wanted something PRETTY does that escape your tiny little sex-starved cranium? That the ONLY reason someone would pay THAT much for something is because an innocent picture of a pony is someone's weird fetish, the ONLY reason someone would pay that much is so they can jerk off to it, the ONLY reason someone would pay THAT MUCH is if it were PORN.
I'm a professional, people, I went to art college for 4 years, slogged through the animation, illustration and graphic design industry for 4 more years. The industry isn't pretty but damned if they don't know how to properly treat a college-grade artist.

in the animation industry for a week-long deadline for 12 frames of story boards for a 30 second commercial you can be paid by a low-end animation company... brace yourselves... $250 for 12 SKETCHES practically, and my coworker got paid that and he was a worse artist than i was, his work was scribbles compared to mine. Still got paid $250 per-project storyboarding PSAs
The people who do veggie tales? their deadlines are 2-3 days, guess what they pay? $450-500 for 30 seconds worth of storyboards, thereabouts again, 12 drawings.
People in the industry value art, its what drives their product. So when you put that into perspective, me asking $100 for a lovingly rendered speedpaint looks freaking cheap by comparison dosn't it? Considering i got paid TWICE or 4 times as much to do sketches of vegetables.
Don't complain about prices, most of the artist's prices are freaking Cheap compared to what we could work for. This isn't me standing on a high horse and saying "I COULD MAKE 3 TIMES THIS MUCH ELSEWHERE" no. I've had my share of humbling, I do artwork for a living, it pays my bills, my food, my gas my everything. I owe my livlihood to the wonderful customerbase i've accrued over this past year, however, I'm sick and tired of seeing random people who DON'T KNOW ME, or how i work, how i STRIVE to be the best in customer service, (and lordy some people will tell you i will bend over backward sometimes,) think im too expensive, that other artists are too expensive or are "overpriced because they're in high demand" It should probably be noted that if I have people who stand in line every night to get work from me, that my prices are NOT infact too steep.

just because our prices seem high to you? Doesn't mean its pornographic, expecting it to be reflects badly on YOU. Making the remark that the price should be lower because you personally can't afford it? Nooooooot my problem. you want nice artwork, you will pay more for it, you want cheap artwork? theres PLENTY OF OTHER PEOPLE who will draw for you, it's a buyers market as much as I hate to admit it.
My problem? worrying about how i'm going to pay my rent and making sure the people who RESPECT ME and RESPECT my work, are happy. Because THEY make this work worth it, every night i am blessed. BLESSED to be surrounded by awesome understanding and oftentimes even broke people. I don't care if you can't buy my work, but don't be an ass about not being able to afford it.
I love my work and I love what I do, I would never do anything else, and while yeah people like the above article would make me want to rip my hair out and throttle someone, at the end of the day im largely surrounded by FREAKING AWESOME PEOPLE. And I can only hope that they continue to bring in even MORE awesome people, 'cause I love community too. Community rocks.

Most expensive art/fandom related item I've ever bought, furry or MLP based? cost me just over £100.. perfectly clean, no adult nature at all. Most expensive adult thing? $35 picture.. and my clean items and art VASTLY outnumber the adult.
Art, be it solid, drawn, digital? is art regardless.. and the artist making it is working for their wage.. if a piece takes five hours, guess what? expect to pay minimum wage people, because you wouldnt work that long for fuck all, would ya?
I am the worst artist in history so I guess I can only imagine actually being able to do what you do, so the best I can do is maybe make general noises of sympathy from one being to another, and a couple of hopefully not too stupid observations;
1) SED (Stupid and entitled douchebaggery) is a curse but unfortunatley a common one. In the end though you are the artist, you set the rules. The SED's dont get the final word bcause in the end there is reason they are coming here; they cant do what you do.
2) You do some beautiful feeling art, and its probably beautiful because you set the rules and can therefore allow yourself to let part of yourself onto the page. If people dont get that it says more about them.
Plus offer whatever makes foxes calm. Chocolate?

I'm a computer science student and work a part time job... At said job I get asked to fixed co workers computers.about.every few months I don't mind it normally and the pretty much base charge of 25 bucks is a steal... But always have to deal with these guys that think a 12 pack of beer and a pat on the back is totally equal and fair payment for me to sort threw their porn infested computer and wipe out all the keyloggers and shit...
People suck to deal with at times, not always but at times... And no wonder that dude wanted a love hole for 350.. And he thinks that's a large amount of money...he must not have ever had a relationship lol xD.. ..

A lot of people don't realise that most artists on FA are already underselling themselves to keep their business affordable to a wider range of people.
Kacey for example, she makes beautiful traditional art, with prices starting from $150 and people willing to pay over $1000 for her work and I still get the feeling she's underselling her work.
And she certainly doesn't draw porn for commissions.
You are a great artist too, in both traditional and digital media and your prices are more than fair and affordable, and the added bonus that people can watch their commission being drawn live, they should be lucky you don't charge extra for streaming since it's pretty much an added service.
If people want artwork from a certain artist so badly, be smart and start saving some money, even if it takes you a whole year or even two years to get the money together it'll be all the more awesome when you finally reach that goal.
I wish others could learn from your example. I really do. But alas, the other thing human beings are besides disrespectful is arrogant and more stubborn than mules.

NO She is most polite, and by far one of the most lovely girls i have met, and in return I accept her and all that she is, as she does me, since we're both weirdos in our own little way. :U
I'm getting off topic though, as me and my friend have that mutual respect, you should be given the same artistic respect.... *yawns* yay sleep deprivation...
