Fiction Commission Question
Hello, all you fellow furs.
As a person who's written furry fiction (much of it macro, micro, or hyper) since the early-mid-90s, I'm curious what people think of the idea of me doing commissioned work.
I've been pondering the rates for writing (which, for a non-professional, is usually something like .01/word and seven-to-ten times that for a professional) and realizing that a flat rate would have to be done for this sort of thing. A drabble is exactly 100 words (no more, no less). Flash fiction is (approximately) 300-1,000 words but rarely above 750. Micro-fiction is usually between 1,000 and 2,000 words with a short story usually being no more than 6,000 words. A large short story usually caps itself around 12,000 words. A novella is usually no more than 50,000 words while most define a novel at anything larger than 90,000 words.
So, as a non-professional (who has only been published three times), I could probably command .01-.02/word.
Given that, rates would be something like:
Drabble ... $1-$2
Flash Fiction ... $5-$15
Micro-Fiction ... $15-$30
Short Story ... $30-$90
Large Short Story ... $90-$180
Novella ... $450-$1,050
These get ludicrous beyond a large short story so, honestly, I can't go that route.
Plus, adult/erotic material should run to a higher amount due to how difficult it can be to meet someone's subjective desires in written form. Perhaps adding a few bucks would make that work better.
So, maybe something more realistic would be:
Drabble ... $2 ($3 for adult)
Flash Fiction ... $10 ($12 for adult)
Micro Fiction ... $20 ($25 for adult)
Short Story ... $40 ($50 for adult)
Large Short Story ... $60 ($75 for adult)
And not offer Novellas.
But I still don't know.
Perhaps offer a 50% discount for stories that I retain the resale rights to.
What do you think?
Who would be interested in something like this and, honestly, what would you pay?
Yours,
Sylvan

Good luck I hope you get some commissions cause I look forward to reading some cool shrinking stories.
I should probably post free samples, first, in the genres I'm most known for. Mind you, a whole novella would probably be out of the question. Even the long-form short stories might be a bit much, but -luckily- I already have examples of those, online.
Thank you for your feedback, Mud!

Keep your eyes open on this space for more information, then.
Really, in putting up the definitions and exploring what each one should be, that's mostly just there for me to figure out where I'd start.
I think I'd offer Drabbles, Flash Fics, and Short Stories.
