Also, FA United was a blast! We had 629 attendees, and raised an incredible $8,076 for our charity, the NJSPCA! For a small con, that's quite a bit of funding for a good cause. <3 We had an incredible time, and can't wait to give you all the details on FAU6!

Grow up and realise that life is too short to stifle giving people erroneous reasons to celebrate.
Same with Christmas, a celebration of Jesus' birth, as well as a holiday to brighten the mood during dark, depressing winters.
Valentine's and Mother's/Father's day though, those can go, seeing as they serve no purpose other than to let stores have more sales.
And I'm not saying people should stop celebrating, I'm simply saying I don't like these pointless made-up-on-the-spot holidays.

I doubt Halloween can even be considered the same holiday in relation to its current iteration, and other spiritual choices respectfully have no use for Christmas.
All holidays are pointless and made up to somebody.
Maybe you should realise that if your opinion differs from the majority to the point that you feel as if you're being flamed, that you might be wrong. Find something else to do than rock the boat.

Please realize that to many people, your way of coming across is less of "No sir, I don't like it." and more of the "Your stuff is dumb as shit and you're all tards trololololol" that is fairly common on the internet. This may not be your intent, but take a moment and realize that in a world of strictly text and no inflection quite a few people could easily have the assumption you are being a whining hater.
Again, this may not be the case, but truth is relative.
For example if you are at Waffle House and Doris the waitress brings you a cup of coffee and a ham sammich, neither of which taste good today. Your options:
say "Doris, this doesn't taste good to me."
-or-
say "Eww lady, this is shit."
Both get the same point across, that you are not pleased. One however will get you a new order or a refund, the other will get your next food spit upon. As a bystander, this is all you've been doing on this thread so far. I hope you merely don't realize you're coming off like this to everyone else, it's the reason for all the ire.
MLP is fine, happy, tolerant and fun. You are not, despite you flying MLP colors. That's the `amazing` part.
It was never about appreciation or whatever. None of them actually like the show at all, or have dirty thoughts about being fat and dying of organ failure, they just realised "Hey! This will annoy people A LOT if I go absolutely nuts over this and post shit about it everywhere! Let's do it!"

A) the same reason I watch the Snorks, the Smurfs, and Gem! I'm an 80's kid, I had 3 garbage bags of the G1 figures as a kid and not only is there a huge nostalgic aspect to it it also has.....
B) Amazing animation, great writing and an actual productive message.
I'm not ashamed to admit there are several episodes that I've had to pause because I was crying too hard to keep watching. Not because it was sad, but because it was pure and innocent the way the world should be, where people work together and care about each other, rather than screwing everyone over for even the smallest personal gain.

Shark week cooresponds with the Discovery Channel's 'Shark Week' of programming, and Fat Bunny Week originally cooresponded with the release of FA:U's most recent GoH's book release of 'The Tortoise and the Hare'.
Instead of whining and making insulting assumptions all over this thread, spend like 5 minutes on google or wikifur before you post again.
I know sexy is subjective, indeed highly subjective; were it not, then I would find every kink, every fetish to be attractive.
I also happen to know about Shark Week (as in, the original shark week, not FA's parallel version). I did not know about the FAUGOH book release nor do I care what that is. As I said (and you seem to have skipped over this part), I was just poking some fun around.

The only thing negative about fat bunny week for me is that it reminds me that I no longer have the company of my little leporidae. Even that is not so negative though, because I am happy to have been friends with her and to have such fond memories. I think I will have to draw her this week.

This event is not about me. It's about everyone involved. I would LOVE to see more proactive furs in the community developing events to hold on this site for the sake of featuring artists, musicians, and writers. They don't have to be silly, animal themed weeks to do that. The only reason I haven't done it all myself is because I'm a teacher, and real life only allows me so much time.
But yes! Now that I know the REAL reason, it is actually pretty cool! :D Helping people in the community is a great reason to have an event like this. It makes it much cooler than shark week (well, the intentions anyways. Sharks are always cooler than bunnies otherwise though, so offense. It is just natures way unfotunately). Although I dont get exactly how this gets commissions for artists, or why people want their characters drawn as fat bunnies even, it is cool that it works out and everyone is happy from it. And it is especially cool that there is actually a real reason for this week, not just tongue-in-cheek antics to counter another animal-themed week.
I'm very glad that there are people on here who are trying to help under-appreciated artists with things like this too. :> You're alright~

It's the same person pretty much moderating the entire event rather than a community...thing so I guess I'm not a fan of bunny week.
I mean no offense to sheepy, but I think this kind of sucks the attention from other artists that have very little.
If a time where more than you and maybe perhaps one or two people contributed, I'd feel this was less of an exclusive thing and it would be okay to call it a holiday, but like you said, no one else chooses to step up. This might be a sign that perhaps FBW isn't quite the right setting for an entire week.
