Try Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me. It's a comedy news quiz. Or Prairie Home Companion, a comedy variety show; music, radio skits, short interviews, and inspirational stories from Woe-be-Gone. Or if you're looking for something more serious, try the Diane Rehm show; news and mostly politics that dedicates each show to individual topics and invites in a lot of guest experts to discuss. For what it's worth, I get most of MY news through MPR's The Morning Edition. Hope I've helped!

This American Life is great for news as well, honestly. NPR is excellent.

These + Radio Lab are the trifecta of NPR goodness. If you need even more: Fresh Air from WHYY is a fantastic interview show with frequently great topical guests.

Ah... I forgot about that one. The of the canned responses and jokes had me cringe but it's NPR and I understand they gotta have some sense of decorum.... even if it isn't the content i'm used to from some of the guests. It does has some pretty neat/ random trivia though! I'll subscribe to it again.

I personally love and listen to: The Joe Rogan Experience, Icehouse chronicles on Deathsquad, Rooster Teeth podcast, Caustic Soda, Savage lovecast, Smodcast, Hollywood babble-on, Penn's Sunday School, Radio Free Burrito, Megaboom!!, and Talkin toons with Rob Paulson. Hope you find some good ones in there :3

I've heard a lot about Rooster Teeth so I think now is a good time as any to check it out. Same goes for Joe Rogan's. Shit.. anyone who will get on people like Dennis Leary, Carlos Mencia, and Dane Cook for being vapid joke thieves is a good person in my book.

In an unrelated story I saw American: The Bill Hicks story on Hulu (the person who's personality Dennis Leary chopped up and stole) and was uplifted and immediatley depressed again.

I should also point out that I subscribed to Penn's since I love the guy.

How Was Your Week by Julie Klausner is perhaps one of the only podcasts I don't want to explode the hosts with my mind. Also AV TALK.

Tried it. They droned on and on about minor league baseball something or other for about an hour. Motion yay/nay this... stopping a speach to balance time that... it was the longest hour of my life.

I listen to quite a few at work throughout my week.

Gaming: Idle Thumbs (Guys from Tell Tale and Double Fine), Giant Bombcast (Usually 3 hours, will discuss retro stuff and arcades!) and Cheap Ass Gamer, The Brainy Gamer (Slow to update but in depth)

Science/News/Events : Freakonomics (Economists and other scientists featured prominently), Stuff You Should Know (Short 30 min interesting discussions about random subjects with a research/science lean), The Verge (video & monthly largely about tech stuff), RadioLab , StarTalk Radio (Neil DeGrasse Tyson's show, science with a stand up comedian co-host)

Nerd Stuff: Hollywood Babble-On (Kevin Smith mostly being Kevin smith with a pal in front of an audience), Fat Man on Batman (Kevin Smith talks with folks like Mark Hamil or Adam West or Paul Dini or Tara Strong about Batman and their careers), Girl on Guy (Aisha Tyler, from Archer etc. and various comedians)

Kevin Smith came off as pompous and self important in Smodcast, the one I USED to listen to of his. I loved his films but he as a person is someone I grew to dislike. Don't get me wrong, I will still give his other ventures a chance... but the five minutes of plugs in his intro and general attitude is something I found myself only being able to take in small doses.

If you're a fan of comics, Batman in particular Fat Man on Batman is pretty satisfying. I got to listen to Mark Hamil talk about nerdy stuff for a total of like three hours. At that point I didn't really care who was sitting across the table from him, I just got to listen to Mark Hamil talk about life as a voice actor for three hours so I was content with that! I usually fast forward through those first few minutes of Kevin Smith podcasts as well since much of it is tour date type stuff.

My pleasure. ^_^ another one I listen to is the Non Prophets, which is an Atheist group that reads news bits of interest and takes in callers whom asks theistic questions. They prefer calls from theists over calls from atheists.

Oh for sure! Mr. Gates have been keeping an eye on Hopsin for a while, and he's definitely sure he'll be the next one to break into the scene. There's a lot of other artists he's been featuring on a number of his episodes as well - all on-point. If nothing else, at least the commentary is good. *lol*

Not sure if i can help, news radio is always tuned in for me. rush limbaugh is one of my favorites. Try who radio, they may be from Iowa but there's some good stuff there, if you're conservative.

There's Hamfisted radio.. It's just Dawn (the host) and her co-host and occasionally guests and her husband rambling on about news or stuff that interests them or just random shit that's happened to them. :)

Very real, very story driven, well made and very similar in a lot of respects.

Radio Lab was already mentioned, but I'm seconding it here. They tend to narrate a story rather than tell it a la This American Life, but on top of that the audio aesthetics are practically orgasmic. They're -very- good at producing a radio show-- the sounds they use and mix in throughout their narration is to die for. Every show is so wonderfully artistic!

Highly recommend Russia Today at RT.com. Their economic editor is hilarious and you get to see things from a different perspective.
