Rocky Mountain Furcon, Ho!
I am making the arduous journey of several blocks to Downtown Denver this weekend, for the long awaited and blissfully close Rocky Mountain Furcon! I shall be there, either in the dealer's room peddling some original sketches (such as >these< >two<), prints, and a small stack of Scratches CDs held over for the occasion, OR running a couple panels on Art/Drawing/Freelance and Finding a Good Beer in Denver--OR generally not working and loafing about like I own the place. Come on by, say hello! We'll toast a pint or two and celebrate the summer!
Denver Facts, for your safety:
-Colorado has more microbreweries per capita than any other state.
-Homeless guys on the 16th Street pedestrian mall don't want your money, they just want your restaurant leftovers. Beware, o' fellow scavengers! (and if cornered, telling them 'It's only beans!' generally detours their inquiries.)
-Best Burger in Denver is the Steak Burger, at the City Grill on Colfax (about 9 blocks form the hotel)
-The Denver Diner (also on Colfax) is open 24-7. Get a Denver omelet to complete your Denver experience. ;]
-Denver has the highest percentage of condoms sold per person, by population, of major US cities.
-Marijuana is legal under 2 ounces in Denver county--just don't blow smoke at a federal agent!
-Liquor stores are CLOSED on Sundays! Prepare and shop on Saturday!
-Black bears will eat you--seriously. And don't jog at night in the foothills--then cougars will eat you.
-The 13th step of the state capital building in Denver is exactly 1 mile high above sea level.
-Colorado contains 75% of the land area of the U.S. with an altitude over 10,000 feet. You sea-level people will be winded the entire convention (and get drunk on way less). ;]
Cheers!

But, honestly, you can't stumble more than 5 feet without hitting another microbrewery or brewpub in Denver, so after a few stops I suspect my personal census count to be biased. >;]
Besides, Montana's only up there due to it's population of less than 1 million. ;D
Aw, wish I could go. =
lol...16th street mall. I love going there. My favourite restaurant is the Odyssey!

Three pints and I'm fu..., er, DRUNK. :) Have fun those of you that are going ;) I'll be having 'fun' in an exam in the morning, then spend the weekend recovering (ie socialising and getting drunk, not necessarilly both at the same time) :D
See you tomorrow!
More understandable, all over
we dont have such animals in colorado o_O
And you? are you just visiting colorado for the RMFC?
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/ht.....webbear28.html <-- that's just funny.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o.....rica_by_decade <-- the 1990's were particular good hunting for Colorado cougars, it seems. ;]
I admit you're more likely to get eaten by a bear or a cougar if your a small pet--but even then the coyotes and foxes are likely to get you first. ;]
He didnt tell me bout the big mammals.. thats why i was rather suprised.. and Lafayette is not that far away from the mountains.
anyway, i cant wait to meet you :) hopefully we can chat a bit, seems like you know alot of my future-home-country
BTW: does anyone know when the con starts? The website doesn't seem to say.
Hope you have fun!
And sadly I don't think I will have the time/money to drop into the con... even though I will be at the hotel making exchanges...
I don't know if i agree with the best burger in denver comment, however, sorry!
Ever been to the cherry cricket next to (shudder) cherry creek mall?
I believe 5280 voted it the best too But the wait can be pretty insane.
Very unique ingredients and great bar!
(went last night for my 21st in fact)
City Grill won the award for best in Denver. >;]
;)
Cant wait to come back for the summer AND GET MY ASS TO RED ROCKS for: Widespread Panic, Yonder/ Keller williams, Reggae on the Rocks, 311, slightly stoopid/ pepper, Allman brothers w/ Bob Weir and ratdog, Umphrees McGee, AND SOUND TRIBE SECTOR NINE...
Holy fuck! I love summers in colorado
Btw, love your personal quote, I honestly cried at their last show.

I havent been to wakarusa yet, my friends told me it was a great festival though. Its the first rothbury so im anticipating jams beyond anything ive seen before, what a lineup! Rothbury security was told they need to be ready for the issues that would arise from a possible.. PHISH REUNION.. my head might just explode
Note to self, being broke sucks. More important note to self, working sucks more!
I gotta ask, if your from Englewood, hows Highlands Ranch holding up? I heard it got really populated.
Red Rocks would be a super good excuse to go back to and visit CO. Its hard to see any of those bands up here In shitty Seattle... I was lucky enough to catch Yonder in Missoula, Montana last year lol. Just seeing STS9 there would be worth the trip and then some.
Highlands ranch has really blown up, mostly spawling communities. I remember just a decade ago it was a big stretch of nothingness LOL
I caught STS9 during Vegoose '06 and FELL IN LOVE, wow. Artifact is one of the greatest albums, of all time. Check out this godly device they had built:

And fuck me if Artifact was really that good, heres why..

At least I still got all my live tapings to listen too.
PS. that thing was nuts... its like a super complicated simon sez.
303!!!
Other thing about Colorado: A HUGE number of the furs here don't know about two thirds of the rest of the furs here.
Meh. One major "easy to find" mailing list that a lot of people don't want to be on, a lot of other lists that are very difficult to find and often exclusive, sites splattered everywhere, and honestly not all the furs in the area get along with each other. Gets to be interesting sometimes to say the least.
I should start a list from garnered information, though there are some furs who would not want to be on it still, since they are not mainstream-social furs and don't want people to know where they live.
Maybe... If I make an anonymous map site... That could work.
I loled when I thought of you pounding back shots in Denver and then going to a con in Florida or something coastal and going "WHY AM I NOT PLASTERED YET? I'VE HAD 17 SHOTS and a CASE of BEER!" I didn't know altitude affected drinking.
YEA COLORADO!
Well, up I drive from the Springs then. =3
