Pandaguy's Funeral Information
Talked to Jon's mom just now - there will be a small service for him locally in DC tomorrow morning for those who might be in that area. But for those interested in attending full services and internment, it will be on MONDAY, Oct 8th in Lawrenceberg, TN at 11 am. at Neal Funeral Home, 230 North Military Street. We will likely depart Greenville (SC) sometime on Sunday, so if anyone wants to carpool with us please drop us a note. We'd be happy for the company, but could only seat a few people....
According to Jon's mom, when he passed he was holding one of his favorite plush, and had a very peaceful, almost smiling look on his face....

Why burying in TN, not in MD?

He had discussed it with his Mom beforehand - I believe he had family or such in that area. He was moving out of DC and did not want to be buried there - and had be made it down to FL he only had him and his mom and did not want to be buried there. TN was his choice...

Drive up here? If so, you can carpool there with us and stay in whatever hotel room we grab....

So sorry, Timber :( I never met the guy, but I remember you were good buddies with him. From everything I've been seeing he was a real great person. Glad to see his friends getting to send him off. Wish you the best.

I will be there in spirit as I cannot make it in person, though I really wish I could. Jon was a dear friend of mine too.

I'm pondering hard on going... would mean I would have to call sick on Monday and drive eight hours home Monday night as my sick days are tight (I need to have two to use for MFF)...

When I saw the last part you said, I just lost it...This is tearing me up inside badly since I know him as well, but I can not remember where I met him at...

I am really thinking hard about coming. The drive time from Chgo is 10 hrs. I did look into flying and I might be able to pull off flying into Nashville and then renting a car. I am still working the numbers and flight times to even see if its possible.

I'll be there. Only 2 1/2 hours away from me.

Talked to Fran an hour ago, viewing will be 9-11am on Monday. Service at 11, then there will be a precession to the cemetery about 5 miles away where the grave will be dedicated before her's laid to rest.

Had an idea hit me this morning. For those that can't make it to the funeral. When the service starts at 11Am Tweet something and hashtag it #panda_guy It won't take the place of being there but maybe it can offer some moral support

I approve of this for those of us who cannot make it there in person. I wish I could go.
