Don't be a schmuck!
It's been a while since I ranted, so i think I'm overdue!
Warning, crankiness and foul-language ensues!
And before anyone starts to worry, this doesn't have to do with anyone watching me, it was brought on by somethign elsewhere.
I was amused to note several other people commenting on the same "issue" on other sites, which I'd have to describe as "passive-aggressively being a schmuck".
How does it work? Basically by complaining about things you don't like in a sideways fashion; asking figurative questions that have no real bearing on the image. Trying to apply real-world science in any way at all to obviously fantasy artwork. Trying to apply unrelated documentation to an art piece. There are all sorts of variations.
In this instance the one that set me off was an oldie; the agonizingly tired comment of " Wow, she must have terrible back pain!" on an image of a very busty character.
My instant, automatic mental reaction is literally pretty much "Fuck... the fuck ... off."
Seriously, it's a non-constructive comment, a passive-aggressive whine of "I don't like this." couched as a witty/clever "sympathy" comment for the character who generally shows no indication of any such issues.
Do us all a favor and cut it the fuck out; grow a pair and just say "I don't like/I prefer (fill in item here)", making it plain it's your opinion. Or better yet just keep it to yourself. Constructive criticism is welcome. Bitchy whining sniping is not.
Thus endeth the sermon.

But I'm too passive-lazy to post it.
Hanging upside-down and typing is only difficult because of chest-related issues.
I'd love to see that.. :)
My favorite is when they start telling people what X creature should look like when it doesnt even exist.
Fun litle tidbit.. the spell correct for therinthrope correted i to Misanthrope...
"But that's not how this Pokemon works I know because I played all the games!!"
"But that suit has no visible mechanisms, and what powers it? It's bullshit to have a skin-tight suit give superhuman strength!!"
"But that robot would collapse on itself because of size and gravity!! Yer doing it wrong!!"
"Why does she have such skimpy outfit? In real battle she'd be killed instantly!!"
And list just goes on and on....
Because porn. :P
And Wolf does speak the truth
Much as one's allowed to critique I believe people can just share their opinion.
I get your frustrations with it, though... it's not as bad as someone talking about you personally, around your back or sideways.
I really fricken' hate that!

I guess the greater internet dick-wad theory is right.
(Google both if you don't know what I'm taking about.)
You say something humorous in this 'cummunity' as a passing jest, people get butt hurt. You say something like 'Nope sir, I dont like it' people get rage-butthurt and say not to comment/don't look at it etc. You say something like 'Oh murrpurr id fuck that eight ways to sunday', people get butthurt. You say you like something, people troll you for it and shun you because you like something they don't. You give constructive crit, the artist bitches at you and gets butthurt.
In the end.
Who. Cares.
Really, the only person who gets to make comments about not liking the esthetic is the person the art's drawn for.
Yeah, it seems like a double standard, where positive expressions of opinion are accepted and negative ones are shunned, but the positive opinions encourage artist. The negative ones don't.
Which someone else would probably complain about.
Like I give a fuck what you think jackass lol :)
also on Sofurry my brother recnetly had tthis one weirdo comment on his art about "reptiles not having breasts" and then h made a comment saying "you should do this this and this and blah blah..." =/ it's like they're TRYING to get you to draw what they like it's a bit retarded.
a comment for example would be like "umm I think of those breasts might be a bit small or the nipple is in the wrong spot etc." pretty helpful,I'd avoid that next time.
then ya ge tthis other comment like the one you stated then well, that's just fucking useless :/ we all have the right to our opinion but that doesn't mean we have to welcome it on OUR submission page when we don't want it : 3
People who start shit like this deserve piranhas in their boxer shorts.

NNNNNNNNNNNNNNN >:c
There's so much, I could say about this. But if I did, I'd be here all night so...
I've been in this fandom for years now. Since 97 about.
And while I've never been particularly ahem... sociable. I do enjoy the role-playing, and collaborative efforts from time to time with people. ~ My current haunt is Second Life, which in and of it's self has it's cliques and subcultures. I used to wander around a game called furcadia, and before then, things that required the IRC and Telnets :B ~ No doubt, I've seen my fair share of every kind of art there is, too.
~ Anyway, with out going off on too much of a tangent, little "activists" like that just wear their insecurities (and erections) on their sleeve.
I play a tall, muscular, femininely-gifted, but not excessively so Vixen.
And I play a similarly set up Hyena too.
~ I've gotten, metric gallons (yes) of snarky comments :D Some of them, are just flat out jealous. I walk into a room and naturally people notice my character. (Especially on secondlife because it's a literal visual medium). And, you know, like I said I'm not very social, I keep to my self. But apparently, some people get so insecure that I'm stealing the attention away from them due to my "hotness" (God I feel narcissistic just saying that), that they comment on how it's so un-natural, or impossible, or INSTANTLY, try to stick up for their own body preferences.
... And some, who're just downright pissed off that you're not applying their fetish, so they try to browbeat you with it. Case and point, Hyenas. ~ I've gotten "You know, Hyenas actually have a big fake clit-dick." (with a subtext of: Why won't you grow one and ram it up my ass :3c) that it's not even funny.
I don't let it get to me, much.... But it sure is aggravating, when perfect strangers ask me to grow a dick :(
