some guidelines!

General guidelines for artists (read before you +watch!):
-DO +watch if you want constructive, honest feedback!
-DON'T +watch if you can't handle people potentially saying "bad things" about your art. (Some can't, no big deal, this just isn't the right place for such people!)
-If you're not sure you want critique on ALL your art, rather than +watching, you can simply type :icon ilovecritique: (and remove the space) in the description of specific pieces of art you WOULD like critiqued!
-If you don't like a critique someone gives you, don't complain or argue with them; just ignore it, and move on.
-If you like a critique someone gives you, thank them!
-Pay it forward: take a bit of time to offer someone else a critique, too. :)
General guidelines for critics:
-Always be polite, courteous and respectful when you offer critique.
-Be constructive; offer as much as you can about -why- something looks wrong, not just that it does, and if you have the experience, idea(s) or suggestions to help them fix it.
-Try to be balanced; offer negative, positive and neutral comments. When in doubt, err on the side of more positive than negative! Sandwiching a negative between two positives works nicely.
-Not everyone appreciates or wants this kind of feedback, so only offer it to people who indicate that they appreciate it (like the people watching I_Love_Critique ;D). When in doubt, ask.
Happy critiquing!

I'll give back every comment I receive. If you're not on I_L_C's watchlist but still critique me, well then I'll pick an artist at random and critique away so that I keep a 1/1 ratio. That means you get to pleasure 2 people (me and another) if you critique me and aren't on the watchlist. :-P
Something.
::falls over::
::deletes overuse of "or something"::
I learned that as leadership camp: praise-suggestion-praise. Works well.
Well, to #2. #1, that's open for debate!
I can't visualize text or words, so I usually ask for redlines instead. And I have some images that I really need redlined. x3
We can't critique criticism? =O Just kidding.x3
Also, would it be useful to post here, or create a new journal where people can post, what TYPES of work you're submitting, mostly, so people can sort through it better? I realize 88% of it is art-- I even submit a little of that myself-- but if there was some way to start workthing through poetry submissions, I'd jump at it.
I submit the idea that: membership in this comm would be more productive if understood to mean that people here are willing to hear fully negative criticism of their stuff.
Anyway, again, if anybody is in this group that has poetry specifically they'd like help with/critique of, maybe you could respond to this comment.
I hope I get good advice that can make me better.
Just be that to all artist irregardless of the having this logo or not.
