He's tested them into oblivion for me, and I've got a final rundown on the durability of the footpads (via Kitfox, who relayed the info). He wore them as hard as he could, treating them like shoes, using them on asphalt, I think I heard mention of climbing trees once (lol), and generally abusing them far more than they were designed for. They started showing signs of wear at about 50hrs of ultra heavy use, and they finally gave out after about 100hrs of ultra heavy use. It seems the pads separated from the backing before wearing all the way down, too. Almost perfectly in line with my estimates, and very empowering to hear.
Most people won't be using paws anywhere near as hard as this, but I wanted a worst-case scenario test on them so I could give a good minimum expectation. With regular wear, I'd expect at least twice that, and that's on par with a pair of shoes like Converse*. With careful use (mostly indoor/con use), the sky's the limit! So, I'm confident in my ability to make pads, and call my feet indoor/outdoor.
*In my extensive experience with Converse. Your experience with Converse may be different, and the effects of the Arizona heat on the pavement may have had something to do with it.
