A Christmas Wish
My Christmas wish for this year was to get a puppy but I can't because I need dental work done that will eat up my puppy fund.
So what's my new Christmas wish? I would like commissions. I know money is tight around this time of year but if I can make up enough to cover all or part of my dental work or even part of the money for my puppy that would be a very nice Christmas for me.
For that goal I will even do pony full character sheets as well as my other commissions. As many drawings varying from sketches, inks, flats and full color as I can fit on one sheet of "paper" for $20. If someone wanted a traditional character sheet instead of digital it would only be sketches but the original can be mailed to you. You can have any ponies you want on the sheet. It doesn't have to be just one pony.
I can also make pony badges for $20 which would be a full body, full color picture of your pony with its name that will be laminated and mailed to you with a lanyard (or it can be delivered/picked up if you're close).
Anyone who helps me advertise can get a free digital sketch of their pony after providing a link to their journal on DA, FA or other advertisement form.

Puppies themselves, if you buy one, certainly cost money. So does their food, basic items, and all the shots. It costs a lot more than you think to get set up, but the real kicker is that it will cost a lot more than you think to keep one healthy.
If you don't have enough money to take care of your own health, what happens when the puppy gets sick or injured? It cost me nearly a thousand when my puppy got parvo (he was too young for the vaccination) and had to be hospitalized. My adult dog cost a few hundred for a single visit when he sliced open his elbow, and still costs me a lot of money in multiple return visits simply because his breed lends him to get recurring skin problems. If you are buying a puppy, especially a pure bred, you are probably going to run into chronic health problems at some point with them as well, so you need to be prepared for that. I'm still in debt over my older dog that I had a few years ago when he had kidney cysts. Treatment cost $4000K.
I'm telling you this not to be mean, but because a lot of people on here get pets that they can't afford in the long term, and then sooner or later you see them begging for emergency commissions when their pet gets sick. If you need commissions just to buy your pet outright, then it's not right for you to get an animal with the promise that it can depend on you for lifelong. Eventually it will be the community that takes care of it for you by patronizing you with more commission money to take it to the vet.
Before you get a puppy, think about getting a job that both you and your pet can depend on to take care of both of you. Get on your feet and take care of yourself first. That's important to master before you go on to take care of a very sentient life like a dog.
We have the money for the dental work we just won't have the extra puppy fee before the deadline to get the pup. If it was another couple of weeks I'd have it easy peasy the timing just sucks.
I make great money on the hour and am weeks away from making permanent where I work so once that happens I will not only get a raise but will have profit sharing to boot. We take very good care of the animals we have and they get regular vet visits as needed. Even when she was running the rattery I spent around $1,000 on a few of the rats that got sick in one month's time and it didn't hurt our income.
She said if she didn't have the money by Christmas she isn't going to worry about the puppy she just wants to help with the money I'll be spending out the next few month's where she can cuz she feels bad about the amount of money I spend on her and wants to do her part because she cannot work outside the home for reasons I won't get into but she has a lot of plans now that we are in our new place with getting a sewing machine for quilts and such and various other money making projects such a making home made soaps, lip balms and such.
I appreciate your concern please don't get me wrong hon I just wanted to make sure you understood we were not going to jeopardize the health of a beloved pet just for the sake of getting one by a certain time frame. She's already been talking to the breeder and has made them fully aware of the money status and the breeder said no problem she could get one from the next litter if things fell through.
What I meant for my dental bills was if I didn't get enough to get a puppy from the Christmas litter I'd just give the money to Xander to help with the cost of my dental work. I hate having him spend tons of money on me but I can't go out and get a job with my issues. I want a job, it's not that I don't want to work. Since I can't get a conventional job I make money using things I can do at home like making soaps, lotions, lip balms, bath salts, scrubs, etc and once I get a sewing machine I'll also be making quilts, blankets, table runners, curtains, costumes, bags, etc. I have everything I need to start the sewing projects except the machine. I tried doing it by hand and my back hated me for a week. I'll also be sculpting again once I can get to the art supply shop and get more clay.
I've grown up with dogs, cats and almost any other pet you can think of from two legs, four legs, eight legs, no legs and fins. I absolutely never buy an animal until after I've done months of research into the particular care, health issues, temperament, etc and have the money for it. We also have a separate fund set aside at all times for vet costs and my vet is also a 24/7 emergency clinic so I can get my animals in any time I need.
I had no intention of skipping my dental care in favor of getting a puppy even if I wasn't in excruciating pain. I already figured I wouldn't make enough for the puppy this run and has arranged to get a puppy from the next litter which isn't due until summer but I wanted to try since that's all I wanted this Christmas.
Any other form of payment I can think of would show me your name an address so that's not so good.
As for ref you can give me a written description or a picture. I prefer pictures, especially if unusual colors are used like "Catalina blue" as opposed to more common shades of blue like slate, sky, blue and cyan. The picture usually gives me more confidence in what I'm doing because I can see exactly what is wanted. I've done written description pictures before and it's varied from "OMG that's EXACTLY what I wanted!!!" to "That looks nothing like what I asked for." while I'm left scratching my head at the latter wondering what I did that didn't match the description XD
This is my best example of a drawing done on a word description: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9291319/
On the character sheets you're guaranteed at least one full color but I won't do every drawing in full color. My individual full color commissions cost $10 if that's an easier route if you want all three characters in full color (That would be $30 total instead of $60 for three character sheets. You're welcome to either option though). If someone came in for a character sheet and wanted every drawing done in full color that would take a lot of time and if they got 5 drawings on that sheet I'd make $20 for $50 worth of work. I'm estimating that 5 pictures is the minimum I can fit on one sheet.
As an idea of price my full color commissions are $10 and flats are $5. I never offer line art or sketches as commissions on their own anymore but when I did the inks were also $5. With the character sheet you are pretty much guaranteed on full color, one flat, one ink and possibly one sketch and then whatever else I can fit on the page from those selections. It's my best price if you want multiple commissions. They would probably make pretty good reference sheets too.
Yeah email will work or if they're posted online you can just link me to them. I also have msn and skype if you have one of those you can just send me the pictures that way too.
