Art I owe (This will be updated)
(This is an updated version of a journal I posted back in November 2012. Not much has progressed since then, which is pathetic, but unsurprising, considering what a horrific winter I had. I'm going to assign arbitrary deadlines to these projects, because the whole "la de da I'll work on them when I'm feeling it" approach isn't working. I'm NEVER feeling it.)
So I'm tired of being a schlub who doesn't respond to messages and keeps people waiting forever for art. I'd rather be a schlub who responds to messages and completes art in a reasonable amount of time. Yeah, I'm a full-time student with a tiring part-time job on the side, but there are people who work way more demanding jobs than me and they still manage to continually churn out decent art. I've been in a major long-term art slump. I'm simply not motivated to draw and I'm not confident in my abilities. It's a self-perpetuating cycle because if I don't draw regularly, the quality of my work plateaus, or even gets worse. That makes me feel bad, which makes me less motivated to draw. And round and round she goes. You've heard all this jazz before.
Anyway, if I don't draw some more stuff, SOON, I'm concerned that I'll never quite regain the spark I once had. There are several ongoing projects I've got going on, and I'm going to use this journal to keep track of them. There's really no reason I can't just keep this information in a Word document on my own desktop, but I think publicly posting this stuff helps to keep me accountable.
And if anybody's wondering, I'm not open for commissions, or anything right now. I never really was "open," I just took a few commissions under the table because I'm shifty that way. If you're interested, you can always ask, but there's a good chance that I'll turn you down even if you're a good friend of mine. I simply have too much of a backlog, and a bad track record for completing stuff in a timely manner. Taking more commissions or trades on top of that isn't fair to you, me, or the people who are already waiting on art from me.
EDIT: I have removed leftover requests from the list and am just proceeding with commissions/trades.
STUFF THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE:
-
niwa-tora Badges. I wasn't thrilled with the original version I gave to him a while back (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6231492/), so I made this digital version of the same badge (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8703530/). I'm rather embarrassed to admit that that still needs to be printed, laminated, and sent off. I also still plan on doing a separate companion badge using fake craft-store jewels, referencing Tora's jewelry-making work. All sparkly-like.
-
boxymcboxbox Two badges due at the end of March 2014.
-
tonicbh Animated icon and character portrait.
-
kitcatfurry A fursona ref sheet for Kit Cat, a Cheshire cat/fox mix. (In progress)
-
kitcatfurry A simplified ref sheet of Summer the echidna, to be given to her for the purposes of making a clay figurine of my fursona.
-
darkemberkitty Portraits of her and Cani Lupine as My Little Ponies. I generally don't draw ponies but I told them I would do this and I'm going to do it.
-
coffeehousedog A badge of Ms. Muse eating a cupcake for Rainfurrest 2013.
-
jaeden And I'm pretty darned sure I said I'd do a badge commission for you, if you want to take me up on it.
If I said I would do art for you and you don't see yourself listed here, feel free to politely remind me. Don't just make stuff up, though. I'm absentminded, but I'm not THAT absentminded. If I said I would paint a mural of your fursona on the side of your house for a dollar, I'm pretty sure I would remember something like that.
