I can understand not taking commissions, especially with some of the buyers that people get out there; it can seriously become a pain quick.

Commissions are a pretty hit-or-miss thing for a lot of folks, I'm sure. xD You just keep on drawing your own art as and how you please, don't worry. :3

Well when I write using another's characters even though I ask for enough info to get a "feel" for them I still have some trouble expressing through them so it takes longer, and with commissions there is always the matter of time because you don't want to keep the person waiting too long so this can add to the pressure already gained. I love to sit back and take my time because I know in the end what i produce will be enjoyed by those who read it.

I think just relaxing and doing what comes natural to you will help shake a lot of negative feelings you have.

I'm with ya.  tacticalsnake and I came to the same conclusion. We still do sketchbooks at cons, but not the long, take home projects. I'll still take them from friends some times, but I really hate doing them. I've had some of my pro friends, like  berbalang tell me it's a good idea, too. I guess commissions are great for some people, but they're soul crushing for others.

Yeah, it's the long, take home ones that are killer. You do something right then and there, in a short time, at a con and it just breezes by, but when you're planning and agonizing over a piece... it's all different. Also cuts into the time you have to do your own projects, which is one of the things getting really important to me, lately.
