In my experience, I've seen a huge variety of levels of "furry"--from the high, conservative, almost Puritan views of some Yerf artists to the frighteningly twisted mindset of extremist liberal fetish yiffers who are so bizarrely violent in their sexual habits that not even typical yiffer furs can handle their almost asocial behavior.
Hilariously enough, I love every aspect of the furry world, from the aloof to the slanderous, in an almost intellectually aesthetic way. Everything I learn is oddly psychologically pleasing to me. Perhaps I'm just looking for an excuse to justify my own bizarre personality in adoring and knowing all layers of the Furry Universe, but I can't help but feel a fondness for the good, the bad, the ugly, and the just freaking weird. They're all beautiful people to me, in their own strange or not so strange ways--they're just like any other group of people, filled with snobs, sneaks and freaks. Look at any country, culture, religion, TOWN: they'll all have their extremes. The Furry World is no different.

I don't think "yiff" is a particularly terrible and destructive aspect of the fandom, particularly since there's people ALL OVER who talk about and practice sex (and rampant promiscuity, though that's not even commonly an aspect of furs), hence it's a natural part of life and human nature. People argue furry culture is centered around bestiality; but, to be honest, if that were true, all furries would be yiffers (which they're not) and they'd probably prefer actual bestiality over anthropomorphic animals (anthropomorphic is particularly human).

Anyway, before I go off on tangents, I'll stop. If you want to discuss more of the fox's mad adventures, I'd love to tell. I think the furry world can range from a decent and mature to a stiff and provincial to a totally irresponsible and rampantly liberal place--just like the regular world. And it's my job to know and talk about the whole gigantic spectrum.

(In accordance to the comment about furries being centered around bestiality: I thought I'd throw this in since its a bit little-known. Occording to a study done at several conventions, only 2% of furries are zoophiles.)

Indeed--hence, arguments that furries are simply rampant sin of the worst kind are totally invalid. Many of us are just people who like roleplay. Some of us are kinky. Some of us are even asexual. It's a microcosm for the real world, really.

I'd probably be like "uh...um...:DDDDD So like *duh*", because I do that with everyone I don't know. XD

of course i would definetly love to get in touch with you and anyone else that want to discuss topics in a adult or hilarious maner ^_^ . Even if i do not agree with evrything and extrem imagination but a good respect for evry opinion is NEVER wrong to say it that way. And i would be lying if i say, that some parts are not arrousing. I have of course my imagination, but i feel neither abashed nor proud about. I just have my desires, as evryone.

Evryone is in many ways like a good book with typos and errors. As much you might want to hidde the errors, you can not hidde them all when others read the story.

I know I didnt comment on the original journal because mostly everything has been said... I was like you though and knew of the furry fandom but never considered myself a furry even though sometimes I drew them, if anything I was a furry artist but not a furry. I went to AnthroCon '06 and my views changed. People in fursuits = a little odd (before) Fursuits=I WANT ONE (now). Just like oh my gosh, furry conventions are the best place to be, its VERY VERY life changing and I say that I am a furry now. At AC though there was a comedian (he frequents alot of cons) and hes very funny, so I was looking online today at his website and I found his explaination of Furries, so here it is because I think he said it so well: http://ranting-gryphon.com/Other/whatisfurry.htm
