PLEASE! ATTENTION EVERY FUR/PONY/DRAGON AND MORE!!!
I NEED YOUR HELP! DESPERATELY!
Here's the problem: I completely uprooted my life in my hometown to come to a new place to have a new start. I did my research and now I'm stuck. I'm currently attending Indiana University at South Bend, one or IU's satellite campuses, and I've run into some MAJOR problems.
First off, I have no money for food. Food is not provided in meal plans like other colleges. You are on your own. I am willing to go without, but that's incredibly hard. I would prefer not to STARVE for 5 months. I don't think I can make it that long. The body can last I think its 2 weeks without food and right now I have nothing but an apple in the fridge and some rotten pears that I'll eat if I have to. I'm already trying to deal with hunger pains. They're so bad I'm crying sometimes trying to cope. I dont know how I'm going to concentrate on my classes if I'm so hungry.
That brings me to another thing... in my last journal I said that I cant afford books because the school wont cover them with financial aid. I have to buy my books for class. I cant NOT have them or else I'll fail. They contain readings and assignments that I have to do to pass. If I don't pass, financial aid is dropped and I have to pay it in full. With all of my books and mandatory materials (excluding notebooks, pencils, paper, and that stuff, just the bare necessities) is $787 with all of the books USED or second hand. I'm not even considering getting new books.
In my last thing, I have no medication left. I know I saw this coming, but I have to deal with it that I'm completely out of my necessary medication.
I'm on heart medication because I had a heart transplant when I was 4 and 13. I have a bad heart.
I'm on chemotherapy medication for my lung cancer that is in my left lung. The med's don't make me lose my hair or anything, but it keeps the cancer at bay for now. It keeps it contained and in remission. I'm really afraid and scared that because I haven't taken it in 3 days now, that the effects will wear off soon and it will become active. My radiologist and doctors also fear the same thing.
I'm also on pain medications. I have pins and posts in my right and left knee, in my spine, and in my neck. I had to have parts reconstructed and replaced a few years ago because of some hate crimes and accidents that occurred.
My right lung is a transplant as well, which I take a pain med for as well. The lung is smaller than what a normal lung is because my donor was 4 years old and I was 12.
I need my medication to LIVE. My hear is already off-beat and its causing some chest discomfort, which I learned isn't good if it goes untreated.
NO, I have NO medical insurance or benefits. I have to pay everything in full. When my mom died, we lost all benefits immediately. I have to pay for everything in full. My dad is unemployed and has no money and my brother cant help me either.
I'm REALLY scared that something might go wrong.... my real fear is death, but I'm not trying to think about that
Total cost for medications is high. I have prioritized them in order of importance.
I also applied for 6 jobs and for campus careers through financial aid and the school I was REJECTED from everything. I have nothing to go on. Each interview gave me similar things. I have no job. I will keep applying, but I still have no money as of right now. And the school can't help me.
I'M BEGGING ANYONE AND EVERYONE....if you can help me....PLEASE.
I'm on my hands and knees, my back to the wall, exhausted of resources, and pleading for some assistance.
I've swallowed my pride and my ear are back and my head is down. I'm ashamed that I wasn't able to make it like I thought I would. I have nothing. I need help.
Please, if you can help me, in ANY WAY, please......please.....PLEASE. and spread the word if you can!

You need food. You need medical attention for your medical issues and you need to find a source of income. The first thing which comes to mind is taking out a private loan from a bank until you can get on your feet. You need immediate monetary liquidity in order to afford the things you need: medicine & food, living arrangements, means of communication that probably aren't just over the internet ( I am talking about getting a cell phone and maintaining it so you can have a line to your doctors ). These three things are also in order of what priority they should be in for you.
Next thing, college. You blew the cash for your books and are unable to afford them. You are worried about not being able to succeed in classes because you are too hungry to focus. As I have said, STAYING ALIVE IS YOUR TOP PRIORITY. If this means dropping out of school or finding some arrangement with Financial Aid that will allow you to pay them back in some kind of low installment, or speak to a bank to take on the Financial Aid loan themselves, then have you pay the bank back, that is what you need to do.
If, AND ONLY IF, you think you can manage school stuff ON TOP of regaining access to income, or a means by which to afford food, living arrangements, and your medicine, then by all means, go for it. But you need to stop thinking about college RIGHT NOW so you can get yourself fixed before you die. THAT is your top priority.
It disappoints me to see someone in such a state as you are in. I usually have a pretty hands-off attitude to people who have such financial issues as yourself, when there is some alleging that what has befallen you was of your own doing. But I will not allow myself to see another human being fall behind for any reason when I can help it.
Follow my steps listed above. You should be okay.
tl;dr
Go to an emergency room to get your health issues taken care of: food, medicine, nourishment, etc.
Find a means of income or money: through a bank loan, through a personal loan from a friend to pay back over time, something.
If you have to drop out of college to afford these things, that is what you should do. Living is your top priority and you cannot succeed in school until you have the medicine and food issues straightened out.
If Financial Aid gets dropped and you have to pay it back, talk to a bank about taking on that financial burden and allowing you to pay the bank back for helping you out in your time of need.
Please do this for yourself. I hope you succeed.

For food in the immediate sense, go to every call out for clubs. They usually have food offered, and something is better than nothing. Take tupperware and store leftovers. Norte Dame is nearby, and I think they have free food after mass in the dorms, so that could cover your Sunday meals. If you feel comfortable asking one of the priests or nuns at ND for help, do so, they usually know what resourses to connect you too, even if they can't help you directly. Volunteering at one of the many soup kitchens in the area always results in a free meal as well. Lots of time people on campus give away food samples too. If you have time in your academic schedule, get a job running the front office at one of the dorms/ library. That will get some money flowing. If you are work study there are plenty of jobs available.
I would look into an independent student loan too if I were you. Might be a life or death sitituation here, so it is worth trying.
What books do you need? I still have some of my old ones lying around. Also you can (usually) find scanned or ebook versions of your textbooks for your torrenting pleasure.
You do need to pay attention to your food and medical needs first, because if you don't eat and if your health goes south, the rest doesn't matter.
that's a good idea! i'll check it out. :)
Food- Aside from the ideas mentioned above, find the nearest food pantry and stock up on what you can fit in your room. There's a list of them here: http://www.foodpantries.org/ci/in-south_bend
Meds- If you're not already on generics and your doctor okays it, get on them. If your meds aren't available in generic form, check to see if the pharmaceutical company that makes them has a savings plan available. Also, check online for free prescription discount cards that'll work with the nearest pharmacy.
I'll try to send some money when I get paid next week. Stay strong, my friend.
for books, wolf got all of his book from various websites you just REALLY have to go searching
his original prices for all of his books was i think 300. after some searching he cut that price in HALF
IUSB i think asks if you want dat cool amazon account with IUSB perks, use it
Ebay is your friend to.
sadly its getting late and shipping is now what will cost you.
When it comes to meds that should have been on your TOP 'things not to forget', list. Theres some programs around here you can sign up for...but then again it takes time. Indy has alot of programs for the damn mexicans that dont work. Im sure they can get you something.
I can ask around if you like
Also for jobs. I dont know if its something around here or not. If they tell you they will call back later. That means no instantly normally.
People want to hire these kids ready to go no training EVEN if it says "on board training" i always get these looks like "whoah boy, i have to train it...damn"
So donto get so worried.
If you have a truck/car available this will help me alot in looking for a job for you.
Im sending thoughts and prayers your way.
I did, however, do a bit of Googling to see where you can look for help.

I'm not sure how far this is from your location, but if it's close enough you might consider it.
You can also go to the local Health Department. They can help you find help and may be able to refer you to some other local charities. They can also help you apply for food stamps.
As far as jobs, places like Wal-Mart and fast food restaurants are nearly always hiring, and you can also check out http://www.indianacareerconnect.com, it's a sort of one-stop career center.
Here are some other websites you might check out for help with your medication:
http://www.oralcancerfoundation.org.....assistance.htm (The webpage is about oral cancer, but the financial assistance links within seem to help with medications for people with cancer of any kind.)
NeedyMeds.org - A non-profit with the mission of helping people who cannot afford medicine or healthcare costs.
http://www.rxassist.org/ - Patient assistance programs are run by pharmaceutical companies to provide free medications to people who cannot afford to buy their medicine. RxAssist offers a comprehensive database of these patient assistance programs, as well as practical tools, news, and articles so that health care professionals and patients can find the information they need. All in one place.
http://www.pparx.org/ - The Partnership for Prescription Assistance helps qualifying patients without prescription drug coverage get the medicines they need through the program that is right for them. Many will get their medications free or nearly free.
I hope that these things help you. I'll be praying for you.
