Get your Fursuit-making questions ready for the next event I'm at!
Have you ever just needed to talk to someone one-on-one to get some help with making your fursuit? Need someone’s brain to pick that has experience on the subject? Having trouble patterning or overcoming a hurdle? I hope to assist you with your fursuit-making related challenges with the offer of a fursuit-making consultation.
What is included in a consultation?
• A scheduled hour-long time slot dedicated to the topic of teaching you how to make your fursuit, the time slot will be at a mutually agreed-upon time.
• Potential subtopics can cover: hand-stitching techniques, patterning, foamwork, creating an expression, making a bodysuit, footpaws, handpaws, sculpting, appliqué, zipper installation, necks, digitigrade illusions, and so on!
• Matrices may, at her discretion, provide sketches to help illustrate and clarify the topics being discussed. For example sketching a diagram for digitigrade shaping, pattern shapes, where to add foam, and so on.
• Consultations will take place after dealer’s hours have closed and the time slot must be agreed upon in advance.
• Consultations will discuss costumes intended for all audiences in a professional manner.
What will the consultation not cover?
• This is not at all a commission; Matrices will not be building a project.
• If commissions are discussed, the consultation cost is not part of any commission price.
• Because this is just a conversation session, there may not be any samples, examples, or materials available for demonstration.
• Casting and creating a mold for resin or silicone won’t be covered.
• Consultations are one-on-one. Please ask if more than one person will be in attendance for the consultation--a higher rate may apply.
• If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask when scheduling!
Consultations/tutoring sessions are priced at an introductory rate of $50/hour, to be paid at the beginning of the scheduled time. If extra time is desired it can be paid at the beginning of the additional hour if it does not conflict with any already-scheduled appointments.
If the appointment time slot is missed there may be an opportunity to reschedule, please discuss with me about rescheduling. Consultations can also be scheduled over video Skype call after the event, different rates and conditions may apply.
Please seek me out at my table in the dealer's room to schedule your appointment with me! I will have a big green sign that says "Matrices.net" at my table!

Such a neat idea! I think I know what I want for christmas this year. Question though, are you doing any panels as well?
I know personally a daunting part of me even attempting a fursuit is knowing which furs I get will be good and what specifics to look for in them once they arrive. Being physically shown and touching the different materials to know whats good quality, bad etc is extremely useful. Being told something works but being able to feel differences yourself is a much bigger impact.
In this case, I put that examples are limited or may not be available part in there because I won't be able to bring /everything/ with me. Additionally I plan to offer these sessions at a convention, and i know how things are--I won't be able to spend that hour running back to my room because I forgot a sample of what upholstery foam I like to use. I think the conversation should just move forward to answer as many questions as possible even if it means omitting a sample of what's what, advising someone on where they can order their own samples will work in that stead, for example. I hope that makes sense!
