To my shock and surprise... It actually works!

I got the full suite. Impressed it's a full working version. It's good to have to have photoshop again. I'm guessing they've done it to reduce pirate copies.

Probably. Also to make it more accessible seeing as I'm going to assume you can upgrade to CS6 from this version.

Nope, only from the CS5 can you upgrade :/

Regardless, updating from CS5 to 6 still costs £370.00. A bit steep considering hardly anything changes :/

I was looking into just buying CS6 recently, didn't realise you could pretty much get it on a subscription kinda thing.

I has CS3 for ever, and then I decided to upgrade to 4, and then 5. To be honest. For artists like us, there is no difference (appart from those snazzy Wacom brushes installed, but they're not bril). The main bulk of the cash is going to that fancy photo editing stuff (which, I know it what it's really there for)

But still, they just consider us starving artists xD

Well, I believe when I went into PC World and saw it, it was £200 for the student edition.

I then had a mini rage cos I haven't been a student for 2 years.

I'm a student. But still.. £200 is a lot. You can't get a free Wacom xDDD But you can get free photoshop (shhhhhhh)
Well, atleast you got it now! I much prefer photoshop over sai. Easier to use I think (although the colouring and smudging/bluring on sai is champ)

See.... I like Photoshops smudge tool waaaaaay more. And photoshop for backgrounds is just heavenly. ALL THOSE FILTERS TO PISS AROUND WITH AND GRADIENTS AND LAYER TYPES AND JUST AHHHHH...

Really? That's really interesting :D I find sai is less predictable with it's software. But the smudge is really realistic, I find Photoshop's smudge (compared at least, to me) is a bit too mechanical, and sometimes you end up with a kinda pixely blur in the middle >w<

But yes, Photoshop hands down for everything else

...Huh, I'm confused. I've been hearing all sorts of mixed messages over this. It started out that everybody thought it was free now, but then Adobe took the downloads down for anyone that didn't have an Adobe account with a license for CS2... but now the downloads and serials are back up. I DON'T GET IT

Upon doing some digging, it looks like those downloads are still only technically legal for legit owners of CS2 to download and install. There's chatter about it requiring a login to download, still, but the files seem to download just fine for me, though I don't want it. Anybody got this downloaded and working? I mean, does it prompt you to login after downloading it? If so, then the whole "validation servers have been taken offline" thing doesn't make a lot of sense.

Mines downloaded, installed AND works. No problems.

Not free. They're taking down the CS2 activation servers down soon, and those serials are for those with a legitimate copy of CS2 and needs it activated. By downloading that right now? It's illegal. Yup. I saw a tweet where Adobe apologized for the confusion. It's not free.

They should perhaps make these things clear. Particularly considering reputable websites and such are linking these download links and such.
Not much legal ground to stand on if they already admit they made it confusing for all involved.

Most likely a mistake on their part, but it's only for those who own/get a legitimate copy of CS2 and need to activate it... and now they may not be able to. All the serials have been probably used by now.

And none of you feel bad? Heh, I'd delete it right away if it were me in that position. It would mean I literally got an illegitimate copy of CS2, used a serial, and rendered someone, who actually spent money on it, unable to activate it.

[Shrugs] However, as of right now it's illegal to download it without a copy of CS2 you purchased. Maybe I just feel this way because I got Photoshop Elements 8 as a Christmas gift a couple years back.

But in the end, it's Adobe's fault, which totally justifies illegally downloading it now, right? Rendering those legal copies useless. Justified.

Funnily enough I have no problem deleting my copy, it's nice to have but by no means is it a necessity.

Although, it is Adobes fault for not making it secure for solely those with legitimate copies (a fact that they acknowledge themselves if they have already apologised for what has happened and the confusion caused).

And to be perfectly honest, seeing as its impossible to buy cs2 nowadays (from my experience trying to find a cheap alternative to PS when I lost my copy as I swapped computers. Why would they not have an activated version? The things probably 6-7 years old.

This is confusing as all hell, though. I mean, the downloads are right there. The serials are right there. There's no requirement of an account to log in to see them or download them or anything. They honestly expect everybody to just... not download it, even though there's not so much as a warning on the page about "don't download this if you don't own it?" It smells fishy, like somebody (or the company in general) wants to just hand it out, but they can't legally say it's free for whatever reason.

So did the posted serial numbers work for you? I tried it, and when I went to open Photoshop it still shut down.

Mine worked perfectly even tested it to see if all the tools work.
Nothing wrong with any aspect of it as far as I can tell.

No idea what's going on, then. Maybe, as someone has said, they maxed out on those serial numbers - or shut them down at a certain point. Ugh, I hate confusing stuff like this.

That and with the amount of technology and whatnot around today, they could surely make it perfectly possible for only those with legitimate copies of the program to gain access to both the downloads and the serial codes rather than just post it straight out on their site.
It all seems a bit bizarre to me.

Haha what? They're shutting down the servers for you to activate legitimate copies... which means you can't get a legitimate copy anymore, ever. So... ehhh... if you can't buy it anymore, why try and impose restrictions on saying who can use it? What do they stand to gain?
