Wow, that turnaround was pretty fast. Glad you guys were able to get it back ok. I was hoping you had followed through the leads on your "suspects" before reporting it as stolen, because if it was a misunderstanding and someone had decided to out the person, well...there'd have been a witch-hunt.

What are you guys going to do with the suit anyways? Keep it in storage? I thought maybe it would be a cool homage to PandaGuy to bring it to some cons he used to like. Sort of put it on a mannequin and display it as a kind of mascot. Would have to be kept around security and away from hazards though. I'd be almost like he'd be there in that familar suit.

Though maybe that would be too much.

Well, that's one reason I never mentioned a name or such - but let's just say Fran's instincts were dead on as to who had it. She plans on having a room in her new home dedicated to him, and the suits will be displayed prominently in there....

If it was just a misunderstanding there is no need for blood. Maybe the person thought it was up for grabs without knowing there were special plans for it? Whoever it was, they were humble enough to return it without fuss after word got out, so in my personal opinion it is probably best to be dropped.

Now if it were a malicious act or an impulse of kleptomania that lead to the suit's disappearance then maybe a fandom alert would be warranted. But if that were the case, I doubt the suit would have been returned.

My question is, if they knew who it was to begin with (even if it was just a suspicion), couldn't they have just contacted the guy in person and asked nicely if they had it, and THEN post news of its theft everywhere if he lied/refused? That's what boggles me.

I don't know, but I know timberwolfy. He's got a good head on his shoulders, and I trust he knew what he was doing. He did get the suit back, and says pressure from the fandom probably helped.

He may have had good intentions, but I know if I suddenly saw something that I thought I owned fairly, suddenly being spread on the internet as 'stolen,' I'd be right miffed.

Though he has a good head on his shoulders, I just think that he took his actions in the wrong order.

No, there isn't a need, and I am glad it is returned, it's just his actions makes me scratch my head. But as you said, it is done, and I am glad it's back in the right hands.

We don't have anything like a furry museum yet, but PandaGuy was such a nice dude and pretty well known in suitor circles, from what I understand. His suit would definitely pass muster as a piece worthy of display.

I am with Coon on that one. To it is better for a suit to be worn rather than just in some room somewhere.

When Kimberfox passed away his suit went to Blazer raccoon. It is kinda nice to see him out now in then. But once again this is me.

but if the suit wasn't left to anyone, i would think it proper for a suit to be displayed as what it was, a work of love, understanding, respect and pride. Something that if it didn't go to someone, should be displayed in memoriam.

My parents had a fit when they learned i was a furry, because of a couple of tv shows, they were more understanding of my mate being wiccan then me being a furry.

then yuo need to show them the bright sides of the fandom and not the TV propaganda. and state just like real life there are good and evil. and state the artist aspect of it and then show when somthing like this happens here and every mobilizes or spreads the word.

i did, tis why i've still got a friendly relationship with my parents, i managed to show them alot and tell them alot, but still, they were born in a day and to a heavy religious upbringing that do make them respond to some things a bit heavy handed filled with alot of misconceptions. i've been trying to fight that and help them understand things alot better in different lights.

just like a HAM radio club and stuff and hams abilty to come to gether in disaster or what ever to set up communications.

I am very relieved to hear this news! I felt terrible for Pandaguy's mom when the suit went missing. If it was a misunderstanding or something non-malicious, I can see the forgive and forget thing, but if someone went to that house feigning support to a grieving mother to steal it, well then, all I will say is that the person should thank their lucky stars that their identity will remain unknown. I would never, ever associate with a person that could stoop to such a low.

I am Happy the suit was retrieved safely and I totally agree 100% with Sunfire on this one.

From the looks of it, it might've just been a bit of a misunderstanding and that's why they aren't posting details. Though I think a tad bit of light shed on the situation might be useful after so much attention has come to this suit "theft" to figure out what exactly happened. Even if it is a simply "It was a misunderstanding" explanation, it'll keep people from ripping somebody to shreds thinking that it was still a theft and they only returned it because they felt threatened lol
