FC 2013 Wrap Up - When Can I See You Again? <3
12 years ago
(If you find pics or videos of me, please let me know! :3)
I was in quite a whirlwind just before this con. Hurt my knee the week before, and had thought I might not be able to walk during the con. Between that and ride complications I was considering dropping the whole con, because I didn't want to feel crippled and dependent on others the whole time.
I don't want to bother with many details, but I saw a new doc who was very helpful. He told me what types of movement I should avoid, and that walking was okay even if it hurt. It was probably against my better judgement, but I ended up trying out for the dance competition, because I felt like I had come too far to let my knee issues drag me down again. This dance competition was meant to be a mark in my life, where I finally do something big that overcomes my knee issues.
So, I made it past tryouts and performed on stage! I was so scared the entire time, because my knees were hurting all day, and I thought they'd give out on me, but they managed to hold up. I still kind of can't believe I did it, but here ya go:
The announcer was supposed to say two important things though, so I'll say them here:
1)
atsufawx helped me A LOT with the choreography. He choreographed a whole routine which I used and changed here and there, but the majority of the routine is still from him.
2) This dance is dedicated to everyone who's been supporting me over the last year and helping me get through everything. I wouldn't be up there on stage if it weren't for so much encouragement I've gotten.
I am so absolutely floored that I managed to FINALLY do this, after wanting it so badly for over a year. When I got back stage, I was pounced and hugged by nearly everyone back there waiting for me and happy for me. A few people even told me that they were moved to tears to see me up there, and I still tear up thinking about that. Until today, I saw performing in the FC dance competition as a big final goal, but now I realize I just started a new journey. <3
Outside of that, this con was more hanging with friends than anything else, and I'm happy with that. I got to spend good quality time with people, and despite not suiting much, had a really fulfilling experience overall. I ended up getting sick towards the end of the con, which ate away my energy and awake-time, but I loved every minute I got. I also got to meet a few new friends, which is always wonderful.
Also, at a few points in the con I've had some people come up to me to share some really heartfelt comments, some of which even made me start crying behind my fursuit. Gah... I'm so overwhelmed to make an impact on some people, and moreso just overjoyed to be part of a community where so many of us inspire each other and drive one another to grow and become better people.
FC IS FEELS-CON 2013! <3
Also, I might be able to make FCN this year. Looking for rooming options. Let me know if you have space for a wuffeh? (I have one person who offered, but I'm not confirmed yet, so backup is always good) Only requirements are half a bed to sleep on, no snoring roomies, and basic hygiene.
