Well, true I think i've only won...1 of these things, but then again entering shows the artist how much their art is liked and known

So it's just a change for people to stroke that artist's ego

Well not entirely, think about it is some artist never get any commissions it doesn't make exactly think they're art is any good or no one knows them, but if you have an artist who gets several commissions they know they have some skill and are well known, and to some there is their main sorce of income so something free from them is exceedingly rare, and it's just a sketch not a full drawing

Ok makes since, still don't think it's worth the trouble
