Part 2
You go with your first instinct and start walking towards the Council Hall. Even if they refuse you access, you feel that the strange events of today so far are worth looking into. The sandy road frequently changes to a dirt texture and back again beneath your feet, a reminder of where your village is located...
Nanako Vosi, a large and mainly unexplored jungle. Wenta was founded and built in the largest clearing that could be found, but cannot grow any further until a method of removing the tall, thick trees is discovered. Completely surrounded by trees, ambitious explorers of the tribe have attempted to find a way out of Nanako, but these adventurers never return with any news of anything outside of the jungle- if they returned at all. Unfortunately, the Felinids were not the only ones in this jungle. It turned out that they had shared homes with an extremely aggressive tribe of Canids, a tribe that was at war with them.
As you make your way towards the village center, you take the opportunity to look around. Homes made of dry mud, sticks and leaves line the path as various members of the Wenta go about their own business, carrying food, water, materials or other goods and wares to wherever they are needed, each Felinid wearing a primitive vestment. The males all wore nothing but a lengthy loincloth that sported the same insignia as Ana's, whereas the females wore a shorter version of these loincloths in addition to fur tops that kept their breasts hidden. While this society was extremely young, it was no stranger to the concepts of modesty and privacy. Above all of this, the towering trees of the jungle reached high into the sky all around the village, forming it's boundaries. Some trees held the remains of houses that failed to stay suspended in their branches- these homes would have been accessed by the superior agility of the Felinids, had they possessed the knowledge and materials to build treehouses- while nearly every tree was draped over by large tangles of vines.
Finally, you enter the village center, finding things as busy as ever. A line of shops and stalls where curious villagers gather around the most interesting looking trinkets and baubles they can find, and the owners of each stall shout above the crowds and each other to get their wares sold for the highest price. Food merchants passing out barrels of preserved meat for next to nothing, as required by the Council's laws. Bards trying to liven up the living flow of the plaza, playing on the most basic of string and wind instruments. As interesting as it all is, you try to ignore the ruckus and crowds and squeeze through the people in your path to the Council Hall.
Suddenly, you see something. A Felinid wearing a rather brightly-colored cloak. The attention-grabbing green garment drags your gaze toward it, even though you can't tell who is wearing it or what their species or gender is. The Felinid quickly vanishes into the crowd, but you still find yourself confused. Wenta do not normally wear stuff like that, only the normal tribe outfit. Sometimes there are some variations of it, but not like that. You ignore it for now, but as soon as you turn back towards your path, you find your vision locked on something else. An exceptionally shiny gem in a shopkeeper's stand.
Whoa, that's a nice jewel... No, no, I should keep moving... (Attention -5)
Finally, you make the short trek up the stone steps towards the front entrance, where two more Hunters meet you. The Hunters are skilled as animal slayers. Up until the Canids had started attacking, predators had been the only risk to the Wenta, so Hunters had served well as both the food gathers and the warriors. Knowing no other method of one-on-one battle, the Hunters still serve in this way.
"Huntress Ana, welcome to the Council Hall. I am sorry to say, the Hunters are not welcome inside during the emergency meet. We are here to guard the Council only."
This information strikes you as disturbing. The Council is, by their own law, always to include the Hunters during emergencies.
"I see... does anyone have an idea of what is going on?"
"None, Ana. Almost all of the Hunters reported earlier this morning, stating a reduction in their senses. Hearing, scent and sight were all somehow reduced, according to the claims."
You remember earlier when your brother snuck up on you, and realize that the same thing may have happened to you. If thats the case, now you are really worried...
"Are you certain?"
Both hunters nodded their heads, and the one speaking responded very bluntly.
"I walked into the wrong room while my mate was relieving herself. Normally she is very loud, concerning that."
The guard's comment reminds you that you haven't relieved YOURself since you woke up. It might actually be worth thinking about finding a place to go soon.
"Ah, that must not have been a pleasant discussion."
"It was not."
"I suppose the best we can do now is wait for more information from the Council. Good day, Hunters."
With that, you turn and start walking a distance away. As you walk, you can almost swear that the Hunter who had remained quiet was watching your movements. Call it instinct, but you were certain you could feel his eyes on your hips. It wasn't worth thinking about, really, as it was a fairly common sensation that came about half the time you walked past a male. Right now, it was time to decide what to do next. The reminder that you had a night's worth of liquid stored up, but the plaza was no place to find a hiding spot. Plus, the sun was high up, making you want to find something to drink. Beyond your bodily needs, there were two other things to focus on: Finding a way to sneak into that meeting before it was over, and going back for that gemstone, a part of your mind was nagging at you that there was more to it than appearances...
