Adventure Time not original? say wut? Also next week

I saw this demotivational poster about Adventure Time not being original... At first I loled... until I realized the person was serious.
They believe Finn rips off Mario and Zelda, that Jake rips of Dilbert, and the line "completely being unoriginal and just ripping off" was used
Now I understand AT is not everyone's cup of tea, and I can see how people could dislike it for the art style, or the craziness or what have you... but to claim you hate it for not being original is like "umm what"
Finn is the last human in the land of Ooo, which is later revealed to be a mutated post apocalyptic earth set 1000 years after "The Great Mushroom War" (atomic mushroom clouds) discovered abandoned in the woods by a dog who raised him as her own alongside her own son Jake, a dog who can stretch/change his size/basically shape-shift (and is in love with and sires children with a rainbow unicorn hybrid) whom he now lives with in a tree house. One of Finn's best friends is a half demon-half human turned into a vampire whom just so happens to be just over 1000 years old and lived through The Great Mushroom War, during which she was found and raised in part by Simon who would later become the Ice King due to the magic of a crown which allowed him to survive The Great Mushroom War but at the cost of his sanity and humanity as it slowly mutated him into the Ice King and robbed him of his mind.
Sounds original to me.
(... sounds insane even, lol)
As for today's episode... is it bad that I am more excited for the episode to be over so I can see previews for the following episode XD
The episode that will air on March 11 (my sister's 24th birthday) is the Simon and Marcy episode... which I am exploding to see ;__; just the tiny but in the extended season commercial that shows Simon pushing her towards a destroyed diner on a computer chair singing has me going "oh glob my feels" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbD_.....q3dSJpmZjE1fuQ

EDIT: OH GLOB DAMNIT WHY DID THE AIR DATE GET PUSHED TO THE 25th!!?! Welp there goes my spaz happy for next week . ___. I have to wait till after I turn 27 years old to see the episode I have been waiting for since they revealed the season's titles!?!?

A lot of the show is random crazy fun, and I love the crazy fun... but what I love even more is how as the show progressed they began to leak is more serious undertones, and then after a while it just SLAMS you with something dark, emotional or thought provoking
I've never seen anything else have such genuine little moments. Just by that alone you could say it's original.
Though I feel like the people that say such things probably saw an episode they considered hyper garbage and wrote it all off because of that.
I agree there are lots of reasons someone could dislike it, but unoriginality is not a very good one. hahaha
wait... Finn's a GIRL??????
I'm not a fan of the show at all. I've tried to watch it but the art style and ...scripting? I guess would be best to put, doesn't appeal to me. I've seen a couple episodes of it, and it gives nods at places to other shows but not a direct rip as that poster was claiming.
I think.. i don't like it cause it reminds too much of that flapjack cartoon, and that...really really horrified me and turned me off of shows like AT and Regular show or whatever its called
Pendleton Ward, the head honcho creator/writer/storyboard artist behind Adventure Time was also a writer and storyboard artist for Flapjack, hence the connection you see.
I also have to say as an animator, I love the art style. Its so simple and works with the general feel of the stories.
Frostmourne, the sword, is what corrupted/cursed Arthas (even though he was already kind of losing it). The thing that drained his life and made him icy. The helmet just sealed the deal by making him and the the current lich king, the spirit of Ner'zhul, one entity.
Pointy hair got the power of management and surviving the cubical nightmare managed to not get laid off! He lost his hair and took the crown of pointynes, and over the years lost his mind. Sounds like the iceking and a clear rip off (Sarcasm and not any of this is true.)
I am prepared for lots of feels with Simon and Marcy, but even if the ep is a silly one I will still be happy, I am DYING for more on their back story!
I can definitely see a Zelda influence (but rip-off?), what with different kingdoms with certain themes, adventuring, fighting monsters, dungeon crawling. But it is known that Ward is a Zelda fan.
I enjoy regular show because it's silly.. but the level of depth and originality that Adventure Time gives those who look for it is hard to beat. The way that it even goes on to address Finn's crush on Bubblegum, and moving onto the Flame Princess is FAR more character development than one sees in most other cartoons, and most animes. The show makes a hell of a lot more references to Dungeons and Dragons than this "Mario and link" business.
And on another subtle note; while Fin stays within the cliche of never changing outfits Marcy and Pbubs don't, and even then Finn's hair has changed and this is acknowledged timeline-wise show to show (like how it is peach fuzz in Little Dude which was the ep following Davy where he shaved it off, and in the last ep it had grown some more)
And geebus they can't just give Finn a straightforward relationship can they D:
They get him past Bubblegum and the age gap there that kept them from getting together and gave him a princess his own age.... who is made out of fire and thus he cannot even touch!
It was bad enough I had to wait till the 11th but now the wiki says the episode is the 25th and I am just like "whhhhhhhhy"
and I wonder if a third will happen D: Rebecca Sugar, who worked on both, is leaving Adventure Time for her own show T^T the last ep she worked on is Simon and Marcy.. in fact she worked on most of the eps that had a lot of feeling so I am just like "nooo .__. don't leave"

the only substance i can see to their claim is an extremely superfiscial resemblence in appearance between jake and mr peabody.
that's almost like saying donald duck is unorigeonal because it resembles a duck!
