Part 20
>B&B: Fight two Yaggan with a Sword/Fire combo
With your sword drawn, you wait for the wild Yaggan to make their move. Your patience pays off as one of them leaps off from a nearby tree and extends it's wings, giving you an opening as it rapidly glides towards you. You fall to the ground and stick your blade into the air just in time to catch it off guard, using the creature's momentum against it. The tip of the sword gouges through the Yaggan's underside, making a shallow cut and causing blood to spill over the ground- just narrowly missing you- as it continues to glide and try to land. Once it's feet touch the murky ground again, it hisses in a pained and submissive tone and tries to leave the fight to the rest of the pack.
(Feral Yaggan: -13 HP; Escaped)
You look over and see Phiodel using his twin daggers on another of the Yaggan, a small blast of light emitting from each successful strike he makes. You wonder what is causing that light for a split second before remembering that there is a third Yaggan somewhere around here. You glance in every direction, but can't see it. It wasn't until you heard a loud screech coming from directly above you- already closing in fast- that you realized that it had climbed the trees in an attempt to dive-bomb you. You look up only just in time to see the dark, beady eyes of the feral Yaggan before it's forehead collided with yours and sent the both of you into the ground.
(-15 HP)
You might have another concussion after that... but nevermind. More importantly, the knock to your noggin had caused, not only a pain in your head, but a strong warmth in the rest of your body. As you came to your senses and spotted the Yaggan getting to it's feet and trying to approach you- to eat you- you noticed the barely-visible sparks coming off your fur. Added on top of the pain and wooziness, it only confused you at first, but you allow the sparks to grow and move and collect in one spot. Within seconds, there is once again a fire in your hands. The offending Yaggan, back on it's feet and ready to feast, charged at you and ignored the flames coming from your paws. A fatal mistake.
The moment the creature was close enough, you threw your arms outwards and caught it's head in your grasp. There is a horrible, pained shriek as you burn it's face. The suddenly defenseless animal tried desperately to pull away, but your flaming grip was too strong. A few seconds later, it's screaming and flailing ended, about the same time that Phiodel finished off his opponent. You let go, allowing the hybrid to fall to the ground. You didn't look at the results, instead opting to get back to your feet and looking away from the burned Yaggan.
(Feral Yaggan: -15 HP. WTF man!?)
(+10 Relationship with Phiodel)
"Uh, Anamaki? What was that?"
"What was what?"
"The fact that you just pulled fire from out of nowhere and killed something with it. What was that about?"
You shrugged as you responded. "I Dunno, it's just something that started happening today."
His expression finally showed signs of something other than anger, though only for a second.
"I don't really see how you can be so nonchalant about that. It's not exactly something that happens every day, you know."
You sigh and try to steer the conversation towards a different topic.
"How about we just try to find a good place to camp around here?"
You then take off into the trees, leaving him to follow, as you look for a decent resting spot in the area. It doesn't take too long to spot a couple of nice-sized gouges in the tree trunks that are pretty close together. While it's hardly the height of luxury, it would take far too long to get back to the village. You take the closer one, climbing in so that your body isn't too exposed to the open air, while Phio takes the other. Wordlessly, you both begin to fall asleep, finding it easy to rest in such uncomfortable positions. Hunters often have to stay out on extended hunts, so this is hardly the worst that you've had to endure. As your eyes are about to close for the last time tonight, however, you realize that there is a very slight pressure in your groin. Your body telling you that you need to relieve yourself, but not very badly. You could easily ignore it, but there's always that chance that you might regret it in the morning...
