Usually artists release an easier model of commissions, like inks, flat colours, quick'n'easy shading. Or just limiting the available content that can be within (PG- for artists that mostly draw not-PG- or only one character).

Prices can sometimes be reasonable, but plenty of artists ran them at full price. I guess it depends if they need the money or not. I imagine filling up a hundred slots is easier if they're reasonably priced, though.

i think it's basically just 100 slots at a set price, as fast as possible. a lot of people seem to do a theme for them, too. the focus of the pictures tends to be something the artist wants to improve on.

That kinda sounds cool! I'd probably just sit with "anything goes" because people ask for new things a lot anyway.

A large number of cheap, simple pictures done as quickly as possible. Usually in multiples of ten.

Multiples of ten sounds like a good way to keep track of things.
Knowing my self and what I used to do a lot, I'd probably just go ham and pack the 20's since I'm already pretty quick paced as it is.

Cut prices by 50% or so, and go 100slots, or so, for people to get cheap but fast commissions, typically to help the artist work on a technique or something :3

Mmm, I use my experimentals for working on specific things already, but I guess its good for other folks.

The ammount of pictures in an "Iron Artist" from what I've seen.
typically the essential of it is a picture a day of a set quality.
you open slots of a set price and in the order they fill and draw a pic a day from the list.

I forgot to say that the amount of pictures varies by the artist.
some do thirty (the. Normal ammount) some do more.
there are also the steel artist and bronze artist challenges that some do.

as others said, its usually a discounted price, 100 images is standard for "iron" its meant to be simple and fast, usually ttraining for an artist to work on speed and/or specific elements if they add a theme.

also if you do one, I will most likely snag multiple slots and/or convince my mate to buy some for me XD

Most seem to aim for 100 slots discounted up to 50% with no edits unless they just plain messed up. Some may also offer a color and a inked option and will either take them in different size batches or all 100 at once (if you ask me batches is kinda cheating but hey it's better then an artist setting themself up to burn out)

Other then that some artist may pick themes for the images that interest them or offer bonus chances for those getting multiple slots though that last one is rare seeing as iron artist images are normally already a great deal on their own.

The people that call it Iron Artist don't follow it to the way it is supposed to be done. IA is a challenge made for an artist to get something drawn in a specified amount of time. What you have been mostly exposed to is people falsely using the name as a form of getting quick commissions. There's barely anyone that you will find that has taken it up as an actual challenge and completed it. The one person I would have referred you to has deleted the journals that demonstrated the right way to do the challenge. He stated that he would get 100 images done in 3 days and made it sound like the world would be saved if he did, and he succeeded without any commissions coming out crappy.

Iron Artist devised from the 100 different Themes that are supposed to be drawn with the intent of learning to work with different subjects and to adapt accordingly with the intent of the Artist growing from the experience. Though it is really referred to as the 100 Theme challenge. Everyone tht claimed they were going to do it all failed, because they got lazy, sloppy and lacked the ambition to holdfast to the task.

100 images in 3 days sounds like a nightmare for full color.
I probably wouldn't do a full 100- maybe if I got 2 weeks to do them and had time off work.
Sounds like the definition got lost along the way, as most things tend to.
Maybe in the future I'll get ludicrously fast, but until then I'll pass.

Ah, but he didn't do it in Full Color. They were all LineArt. I mention again that he set that challenge for himself, but it's not mandatory that you do it in that amount of time. You make your own time limit and stick to it. Even if you fail to meet your set goal, completing it is what matters the most.

If you wanted to actually do 100 Full Color Images, then I would recommend doing that for the 100 Themes and do them as commissions, freebies, trades & random drawings so you can actually complete the challenge without too much effort. If every Artist would have taken that advice from me instead of blindly doing it in one way, they could have finished that challenge in less than a year.

Oh! When you put it like that it sounds worlds easier. Now it sounds like something I'd try. But I'd do something like 30 days or maybe 50 depending on what I was doing. Thanks for the info! I probably won't take part for a while though. I got to finish my current plate!

I'd at least be able to give you moral support and advice since it seems you are willing to take it, and I would like to see an artist complete it before I do. As you can see from my own way of taking to using my own method, I've gotten it mostly set to only needing to commish individuals and/or give remaining Themes to anyone that will take it. The ones in bold are hyperlinks to the images, so I have to update some since the Artists have removed them from their pages.
