So then...this was written by the dudes who wrote Lost, or what?
And with a title like BioShock Infinite, you had to know there would be some wild-assed temporal-metaphysics shit going down.

So did te game take place in real life? as in, the bioshock universe. Or was it all in his mind?

What's a further mindfuck is the fact that, with Booker killing himself by drowning in the baptism, all of the iterations of Elizabeth cease to exist as well, since his sperm no longer fertilizes the egg that creates Anna/Elizabeth.

This is how i'm following it. Comstock (Hence forth the letter A) is infertile, finds out in another dimension he isnt. Buys Dewitt (Hence forth the letter B)'s daughter. Trans dimensional dude feels guilty, gets B to save his daughter, but B's mind rewrites itself to make sense. Jump to end of the game. The theory that their are millions upon millions of dimensions cattering to choices upon choices it brought in except for three constants. One of those constants is B being baptized. If B goes through with it, A happens which is bad. If he doesnt? B happens, which is just as bad. B finally with the help of Elizibeth/Anna decides to take the choice out of the equation, and closing the loop "saving" things.


But then the credits end. And you get to see something that makes little sense or as I like to bring up in topics of "Time travel to better man" is one simple catch.

You cant kill Hitler, and stop the holocaust. Because if Hitler doesn't exsist, their would be no holocaust to stop. Thus "Infinite".

Its a weird ending to a weird game that I think is in place to show off that Bioshock as a franchise exsist in a series of constants and variables.

I knew something was fishy when Booker's birthday on his ID card in the loading screen was the same as Comstock's.

You scare me, Lapinbeau.. lol

We have yet to play it.. picked up our pre-ordered copy today - but have been having too much fun playing the new Tomb Raider and Sonic Generations which we also picked up today..

I finished the game in about.... 11 hours :)
Sadly it didn't unlock 1999 mode which is odd :/

And yes the ending was shear mindfuckery of the best kind... overall I enjoyed the game though I'd not have minded if it were a little longer in places.

Yeah I didn't buy the game because you can beat it in less than 8 hours. I'm not paying $60 for a game unless it gives me Assassins's Creed 3, Fallout New Vegas, or Skyrim amounts of play time.

Honestly.... I bought it for the free copy of XCom: Enemy Unknown.

Xcom... Elite trained warriors... But still miss a guy from 5 feet away. ^_^

I have a theory that Booker only killed himself in the branching path where he gets baptized. If that path always leads to him drowning, then essentially Comstock never exists.

This still leaves the possibility that Booker survives, yet only if the paths branching from the point where he chooses not to get baptized. That way, he and Anna/Elizabeth can be free to live their lives without the threat of Columbia or Comstock.

This could be true because if you let the credits roll there is an extra bit after that shows Booker back in his office. If you open the door to the nursery you hear Booker say, "Anna?" and move toward the crib, but the screen goes black before you see the baby in the crib. Lets hope she's in there.

But how did Anna/Elizabeth get those crazy powers to begin with? Did I miss something?

its not that baptism is evil, more comstock used it as a excuse to just ignore all the crap he did, while booker faced it but was overcome when his wife died.
as spoony points out however, having comstock drown but booker survive is NOT a happy ending, as the unbaptised booker didnt go through the personal growth he went through during the game, and is still the kind of guy who would sell his daughter to pay gambeling depts...
