Part 23
>A: Continue to the village
You decide on ignoring the insistent urgings coming from your groin, and continue onward toward the village. After quite a distance of travel, you and Phiodel can see the walls again. You both decide to head around toward the front gates, since the wall itself is too smooth to climb and all of the guards are on alert- probably because of the Canid attacks on the Hunters outside of the village, you tell yourself. Once you reach the gate, you allow your leg muscles, worn out from the trip, to relax a bit while being careful not to relax too much.
As you step onto the sandy streets, however, you notice something seriously weird. There's nobody else on this street. The main gate is completely abandoned of all life other than the pair of Hunters and a skeleton crew of guards on the nearby sections of the wall. Something bad had happened, but there was almost no evidence of a direct fight, and it was clear that there were people still around. Despite that, however, instinct told you to be ready for anything, and Phio seemed to get that same gut feeling as he reached for his daggers. Before long, two figures appeared at the end of the road, turning around a building corner and quickly coming at them. You were about to pull your sword from it's holster on your back, but stopped yourself once your eyes adjusted and you realized that they were, in fact, two more Hunters.
They both stop in front of you, one with a patch of cloth that covered his chest and bore the tribe's insignia in some kind of blue dye, and a female Huntress next to him that got creative with her look, adding some sort of cotton frills to both her loincloth and fur top. Both of them were Tiger Felinids and had similar facial features, meaning that they were likely related to each other. They both panted slightly, looking extremely worried and distressed, before the Huntress spoke up.
"Ana, Phio, you're both needed at the Council Hall, right now! The tribe is under attack, the attackers..."
The male tiger spoke up, sensing his likely-sister's apparent difficulty in continuing.
"The attackers are Canids, they just bust right through the gate and made a straight line for the Council. They were like wind or something, came out of nowhere and ran through the streets before anyone knew what was happening. Your mom and dad were with the rest of the Council when they came."
You're pretty sure that just broke something. You don't know what, since you just suddenly went completely numb... but you're PRE-E-E-ETY sure...
(Attention: +200% [Note: cap is 10o%$)!&%BROKE])
"W-why are you guys still here then?"
The Huntress was the first to respond to your question.
"We were ordered to watch the gate for possible enemy reinforcements, but also to inform you of the battle and escort you to the Council Hall should you appear. You and Phiodel were the only ones unaccounted for last night. Everyone else was either in the village or on scheduled hunts."
"Right, so now that you're here, we can all get to the fight. The villagers are already in hiding, and they won't be out until it's over. And last but not least, our names are Dorza and Dorze, the Tiger Twins as we've sometimes been called. That should answer all of your questions, right?"
(Party members added: Dorza and Dorze [Pronounced Dor-Zah and Dor-Zee])
Not particularly. Which was Dorza, and which was Dorze, for example? Never mind, not important. Without answering, you quickly run in between them, letting all three of the Felinids behind you stand and watch shortly before following you toward the marketplace. Indeed, the plaza which had once been filled with the hustle and bustle of busy villagers and merchants had become a complete, horrific contrast to what it used to be. Empty, save for the cleared-out stands and a few burn marks scattered across the ground. Were they using some kind of fire-based attack? Did they have attacks similar to your strange fire conjuring?
The Council hall is in plain sight now, it's front doors blown off their hinges. You can tell that the fight is still raging inside, as the sound of clanging swords and the glow of fires being blown around in the wind is obvious even to a Hunter's dulled senses. You quickly charge in, followed closely by your allies. The entire main hall is nothing but a big shitstorm of chaos. Hunters and Huntresses desperately working a losing defensive, using all the skill they have to evade long-ranged attacks from Wolves and Foxes that somehow know how to manipulate fire and rock and lightning. From the looks of things, the Hunters have suffered very few casualties thanks to their natural agility, but the Canids have suffered no casualities at all, because agility is worthless at a range of two feet.
Fighting up close is going to be practically useless here, but unless you can find some way to use your firespark limitlessly, you won't have much choice. Driven by the urge to protect your family, you head right into the fray.

A: Use numbers to outwit the Canids (Risky, but this is the easiest method.)
B: Attack with fire (This WILL drain your MP completely, but will give a numbers advantage
C: Evade the battle and find your parents. (Gives you and your party no HP risk, but reduces respect slightly
D: Kill and Loot (Picks up objects after a kill. Slight increase in HP risk, and uses inventory space.)
