You shoult try to find a nick name to your cat, one that he will react to it like is actual name, so in case he got lost your could use this nick name to call hime or write on a poster

Usually when your introducing a animal to a new surrounding, you should keep it indoors for at least 2 weeks then let it outside. (especially cats) Like to try and wander back to their old homes, and usually get injured and lost.

Surprisingly, I cannot relate to this on the cat perspective because on the home farm, cats are just cats. We name them, but we don't worry if they go missing for a while unless it's for days. We don't ever go looking for them, though, because the best cats are usually hunters and do not want to be disturbed. Plus, the ones that just survive on cat food alone and don't do anything else beside reproduce are usually the first to go when the barn become overpopulated with cats. My parents do not believe in having house pets. We do have pets, though. But they stay in the barn or outside.

In general, however, I can relate to what you said. We have two dogs, beagles, that are irreplaceable because it has been a family tradition to at least have one dog on the farm. If any of them were lost, we would be looking for them for days.

Is Sodomy some kind of African or Muslim name? ... Oooh! Oops. Never mind. That is a very dirty thing to do. Never heard of it, surprisingly. It seems that I am learning something new everyday, even if it isn't appropriate.

I'm pretty sure I won't be allowed to name our new kitten Sodomy, but that is a rather clever name. You can't even really shorten it, because isn't it impolite to say "Sod" over there too? You could always go with "Domy" or just "Omy", the latter turning into "OH MY".

Anyway, yes! We have a gray and white female kitten that will be weaned and ready to take home on the 16th. I'm somewhat allergic to cats (It's a dog thing, I think), but I've had luck keeping one if I remember to wash my hands a lot. We need a companion here at the new place... spending a year living in a place where people were constantly about still makes you miss having other souls about, even if they were undesired before.
