Commission Capacity Model Explanation
For the month of April I wanted to try out something a little different with my commissions that I really haven't seen done like this before--at least by no one I'm aware of.. so I wanted to write up an explanation for it before my commissions open up.
Every week I will have a points-based system of capacity that I can fill and ultimately reach. If I hit capacity, I will be unable to accept any new commissions for that week.
Capacity will be points-based, with 10+2 points being my maximum. The +2, is excess capacity that may be filled if I am not at capacity. If I am at exactly 10 points of capacity, the +2 will not be able to be filled.
The filled capacity bar will be displayed on my journal with this graphic:
Points:
"Pencil" Sketch commissions are 1 OR 3 points. There is no value of 2.
Refined Sketch commissions are 3, 4 or 5 points.
Crisp Line commissions are 5, 6 or 7 points.
This points-based system of capacity means that, in any given week, if commissions are proposed from customers, I may be able to accept a workload of, for example:
1 Crisp Lines, full body (7 points)
1 "Pencil" Sketch, single character head shot (1 point)
1 Refined Sketch, head shot (3 points) to fill a 10+1 capacity.
OR
1 Crisp Lines, portrait (5 points)
1 Refined Sketch, full body, 2 characters (5 points) to fill a 10 capacity.
OR
2 Refined Sketches, one full body single character, one 2 character waist-high (4 and 5 points, respectedly.)
1 "Pencil" sketch, 2 characters (3 points) to fill the maximum capacity of 10+2 points.
And any combination of those examples.
It's a bit odd, since it's sooorta slot based? but not entirely? It means that if for a week that I don't get any orders for Crisp Lines, I'm able to do more of the little stuff, and a week where I am bogged with full body demands and multiple characters--I wont be overloaded by also having a bunch of little stuff tacked on for that week, and I can focus on those 2 or 3 'bigger' pieces without worrying about not making my deadline for that week.
At the end of each week my "capacity" bar will reset. And I'll be back down to zero, and able to accept anything again. As the week goes on, that's when I'll start to fill up my capacity, and with this model I hope to encourage quicker purchases at the beginning of the week, so that I can cap my capacity early on and spend the rest of the week working on the orders, rather than spending a lot of time fumbling with communications during the week when I get mid-week orders and attempt to cram them last minute during the weekend--especially troublesome if it's a big commission stuck in right on Thursday or Friday e_e; Can be stressful.
Anyway I hope this makes sense! If you have any questions feel free to comment below. I just wanted to get this journal posted for future reference when the commissions start.

FA+

That's kind of what I'm getting from this, which is good considering how you've been bogged down as of late!
This is all experimentation..I've never accepted commissions "properly" before FA, so, I'm new to business models and trying to work with fluctuating levels of demand and such..
anywho ^^;; sorry about that! you didn't need to hear my inner monologue...
I look forward to when you open your tiers. And I hope with this future experiment, that you find the balance you so seek between the joy of drawing, and the chaos of being overburdened.
