Laptop on fire! (update)

All right, since I assume you understand what happened, onto the update.
*********************This afternoon I went to my local Best Buy where the Toshiba laptop was purchased. I had the forethought to add the extra protection plan should anything happen - since usually something happens especially with Toshiba's. This is my third Toshiba laptop.
Note: times are listed from setting foot inside the store and waiting on something to happen as I was being helped. Does not count waiting in line while other customers were being helped.
a) 15 minutes
I did not think to bring the receipt with me. I just had the laptop and power cord in my laptop bag. The system to look up customer information is extremely slow to load. Tried to have the same female employee load it on three (3) separate stations at Customer Service and Geek Squad in and out bound. Chatted with her for 10 minutes, waiting on it to load then politely requested the number to another store if it did not load at all. As she was writing down the number, the system started working.
b) 40 minutes - Finally the system loads. Same female employee looks up my laptop serial number. I find out my laptop warranty ran out 2 weeks ago - TO THE DAY. I was annoyed but not at the employees. I could order a Toshiba power adapter from Geek Squad which would take a week to arrive. My laptop;s power adapter is not on Geek Squad's parts list so if I really want one that is specific to Toshiba Ill have to call Toshiba directly tomorrow. I really do not care if its brand specific, as long as it works.
c) 60 minutes - Since nothing else was wrong with my laptop other than I needed a replacement power adapter I took a look around (just to get an idea of the price point). With the help of a male employee, he opened seven (7) different universal power adapters boxes. All of the adapters were too large or otherwise would not fit into the charging port of my laptop. He was also the one most shocked about the story of what happened to me.
d) 80 minutes - had the same male employee over concerned about opening a charger with completely sealed a plastic case that required scissors to open. I urged him to try to open it anyways since the worse thing that would happen is it would end up not fitting. He located a pair of blunt office scissors and sawed through the packaging, joking about the scissors and apologized to me about the long wait time. I told him he had nothing to apologize for. He was doing his best to help me and I really do appreciate it. It made him grin and I think I made his day. He tried all the adapter tips and it was finally one fit! I requested to try to plug in the laptop into the wall to see if it did indeed charge. It charged! Hooray!
e) The not so nice new is the charger would cost $80 brand new. On a similar search on Ebay, I found the exact same charger set but used for $40 with free shipping.
*********************TL:DR - Went to Best Buy. Warranty ran out 2 weeks ago. No replacement cable in stock unless I call Toshiba. Found a replacement laptop charger that would work. In store charger is $80, on Ebay $40.

tell me what you told her, but if your current charger is working. I don't think there is a problem anymore. I would call Toshiba and ask about the fact that it caught fire 2 weeks after the warranty ran out in case of planned obsolescence which is done way too much now days. if you are not the only one this happened to on this model they may have to reimburse you for the charger.
