Depends on the characters. I always disagreed with the sale of adoptables, but a bespoke character with a tasty background story and a clear-cut character is pretty good!

I think when it comes to full on character auctions some people might disagree with them because they'll say "It's not somthing I CREATED so I don't want it and blah blah blah" but in my personal opinion I find them fun. I think having a Soirée of characters that match your personality is just as fun. You have your fursona and a couple characters to have fun with once in a while :3 I think character auctions are great when somone finds a character they love <3

to be honest I like to win an auction of a character made by an awesome artist that calls out to me. Like when I look at the character, it just speaks out "this is the character that I want by my side" it's a feeling you gotta have to know if you want it or not

As for character auctions, I prefer to have my own characters drawn. :P

I have no issues with such a thing, as long as one takes precautions to prevent auction sniping and doesn't have an auto-buy function. Just my opinion, anyway.

Those are the kinds of characters that I love, and am more interested in.

That being said, I don't like auctions at all, haha. I prefer flat prices, or some kind of auto-buy, if possible! Auctions are a great way for everyone to get a chance at something, so it's probably the most fair option, sadly.

I honestly don't like character auctions mostly because the artists that start doing them start pushing out rather cookie cutter stuff just to sell more, even to the point you are questioning what species they really are.
I rather not see you go down that path

eh not to big on the chracters autions i mean sure there fun and that but not really fair on other people who can;t enter them and and if its a really good character like aureen or the characters from your comic so not really a good idea

make bid on ... the number of characters? the quality of the image, black and white or color ...
is up to you to choose.
there are people who make the auction

other designs and ask approval from the client before coloring (or make pretty picture)

and other are paid before

I think that character auctions/custom characters are weird but hey if people are willing to pony up to pay for a character they are not clever enough to come up with; hey... you got a fatter wallet. Going with a full profile and some complimentary pics does sweeten the deal but runs the risk of catering to a specific taste (which could easily be ignored.) theres a million ways to think outside the box for characters, but right now its a hot item.

Personally, I would rather come up with my own character designs instead of buying a character created by someone else. It wouldn't feel right to call a character my own when I didn't come up with it, neither the art nor the design ^^

For something like adoptables, I prefer them as auto-buy. Otherwise, YCH (or maybe selling off your own character but lol) auctions are cool with me. People say it's lazy and overpriced, but artists aren't getting much with high quality art for little income that barely pays for food. That's not how it works in life.

Character auctions. In all honesty, getting a nice image of the character(a clean and adult version as some like to use it as a reference for roleplays and not all rp on adult sites)
But then getting an image with it as well would definitly be a plus. As you adopt them and then can have an image to help portray the personality you want to give them.

Of course it cold also be laddered. Like after a few footholds that aren't given out. You would be able to then say a bonus image of it. And then offer a 50% off commission with them. Maybe one with your characters as well. Especially since these tend to go up quite a bit, and not going to lie. People love your art and an offer to both get a character drawn by you, and as well as other boons for the auction.

Since it just came up. Maybe half off a commission with the adopted character and one of yours... or if they have another character of their own, they can have it with them. Kind of gives another win home. But that is because auctions from some of the bigger artists tend to get a little outrageous. Makes it hard for us people who have school and a car to pay for have a little trouble. Mostly because many do not understand how auctions work and say min increment of 5 bucks. They start it off at like 70. Already knocking out a huge group. And for that much I would rather pay for one of my own commissions. Good for you no doubt. But the idea with auctions is to allow a chance to get a image for cheaper than normally done.

Honestly, I've never had a problem coming up with character concepts, names, backstories, etc, and would be much more interested in being able to work with artists on the visual design aspects, roughing out details and finally producing a reference sheet. Just buying a "pre-made" character has little appeal.

I agree with the majority Xpray,I dont like auctions because its like a pay to win deal.Whoever has the most cash wins a nicely planned out character and probably wont even use the character like alot of people i seen who purchased adoptbles or won char auctions.I rather have the person come up with their own character.maybe what you can do is perhaps an auction someone can win and you work with them to create a unique character of their own and add tiers depending how high the price goes for more reward if the price gets higher

I like the idea to an extent but for what I do with characters (SL) I'm not sure it would be something I'd invest in unless it had a full SL avatar of said character thrown in :P Think I would have to go with having my own character over someone else sold to me.

No personal attachment to something someone else thought up and gave.

Plus not a fan of having to just toss money at the screen auction wise for a character that isn't my own and a picture that is only on my hard drive (that isn't my own character).
