I watched an episode where there was some corporation in The Shard taking over people's heads, am I up to date?

I've had Doctor Who recommended a number of times based on my other tastes, but ever managed to actually watch any.

The biggest obstacle, I think, is my desire to start at the beginning, but being uncertain where that is

Question: is there much in the way of continuity between the series?

Well, the beginning was in November 1963, and there's about 400 hours of viewing to catch up with. A good place to start is with the 2013 episodes (three of them so far) - the series has been a bit cluttered with continuing storylines for the last few years, but it's sort of started afresh, more or less, this year. You'll love it! ^.^

Thanks to PBS airing Doctor Who in the 80s (it was a local NJ station too) meant that I also could share the UK cultural touchstone of hiding behind the furniture when the Daleks showed up.

been watching the episodes via proxy ^^ (since all we have in the house is over the air tv :( ) loved the episodes too! tough some people are talking about how 'bad' the episodes are getting XP i think they are thinking way into things. can't wait till the 50th!

so far i heard david and billie are back and i really liked the tenth doctor ^^ though i heard eccleston wont be back :( or any of the classics. I was at least hoping for eccleston and mcgann so that we can see the 8th regenerate into the ninth

David Tennant is possibly my favourite Doctor of all time. ^.^

My ex wife got into the series with Eclleston and the whole New Who relaunch. She also had no idea about the regeneration thing, so when it happened to Nine, she was beside herself. "Noooo, not my doctor!"

Eccleston was mine too x3 but i guess it is how nerdy Ten seems to act that makes him my fave x3 I am wishing I could watch the classic but netflix has like one or two stories from each doctor :( and not even the movie

My first Doctor was probably Peter Davison or maybe Colin Baker - I definitely watched most or all of his episodes the first time round, but I think I'd seen some Fifth Doctor ones too. But I'm a big fan of all the first three, even though I wasn't alive yet to see them... ^.^

Really? I thought that was the best of the lot! I know it was just the old base-under-siege storyline, with a touch of Alien, but it was so well done, I just loved it. Each to his own, I guess... ^.^

yea it just didnt seem as actiony nor deep as many its still better then nearly any ep of nearly any other show its doctor who after ll but not a fave

Same here! I've missed the last two episodes, but I love the show and I love the character. Not even Moffat's really awful writing of women can keep me away (though it does occasionally have me shaking my head).

You should definitely catch those two episodes, they were both real classics! Clara really doesn't have much of a personality, but I'm liking her. ^.^

I do love Doctor Who but I kinda lost track of things after SyFy channel stopped showing it as I don't get the BBC network it comes on in my room. That said i do occasionally catch an Ep at my dad's. I still prefer the previous Doctor. He's probably my fav. *shrugs*

Oh well hopefully tomorrow night when Defiance Premiers I'll have a new scifi show i can gush over and stuff. ^^

I'm really starting to like Matt Smith more than I did at first. I still love David Tennant the most, though... ^.^

i've only watched up to the part where they find out who riversong. the whole time i was on the edge of my seat waiting for them to say what i'd already guessed. but yeah been using netflix to catch up. will get there eventually. X3
