idk how to fix it either x.x but i haven't gotten that fail yet

Is there anything in common about the files where the canvas fails to save?

I'd never ever gotten this problem with SAI but I heard of it having weird behavior at higher resolutions/pixel sizes.

I only really save in SAI and JPEG format, and I've gotten it with both.

What about the size of the files though? I also save in SAI, JPEG and PNG format and have never had an issue. What sort of resolutions and image sizes are you generally dealing with?

I used to get those on occasion. So I would close sai and delete the program data in the sytemmax software folder or just delete the folder all together and the relaunch sai as administrator and it would work fine again

well when i get that message i usually add a number to the name of the file so it saves, generally fixes the issue for me, its a rare occurrence though

Incidentally, yes. I upgraded to windows 8 when it was released.

I think that's the problem. :/ I tried to install usb WLAN stick on Windows 8 computer and it didn't work. It should have worked because it's Windows 7 compatible. But apparently not all Windows 7 compatible programs and devices work correctly or at all on Windows 8.

Herm, I had not considered it, but you figure changing the compatibility of the startup would help?

I think it is worth a try. If that doesn't work then it could just be SAI. Have you tried that number trick that Onyxheart_Wolf told above?

Maybe try saving it elsewhere from where you usually do?

Some recent system updates conflict with SAI's program saves, as I've found out. I had to re-install SAI with the current updates to make it save correctly again.

If you can't remember them you should still be able to re-send them to your email via SYSTEMAX's site

It happens when you don't have enough memory to save something, as in RAM.

Well remember sai is xp era, and after about 2 gigs I think it will not allocate any more. I have xp with 3 gigs and I have ran out of mem with over 500 megs to spare.

Yeah, but SAI will only allocate a certain amount for some reason. I think if you save it as a second file it sometimes works otherwise you have to increase the amount of RAM dedicated to Paged File Memory

its a ram thing I think. once you get over a certain % of ram you can not save any more... only had it once so far but I have 16gigs as well so... yeah ^^"

other than that I wouldn't know.

16GB is only significant if its a 64-bit program, if i recall SAI is 32bit, so the maximum RAM it can access is 4GB, although owing to the way Windows allocates RAM, it will only get access to 2GB.

I'm not sure if you can use the 3/1GB split on 64bit windows though, since the OS doesnt need nor supports it directly, and 32bit applications run in a WOW64 "container".

Well that's weird, good luck sorting it out.

Any of those files that you where working on will no longer save, ever. And any file you open while one of those files is open, or after, will be corrupted as well, and stop saving.
If you open one of those files you have to completely shut down SAI and open it again to work on anything ,even if you've fixed the problem. It seems to stick with the files, and not the install of the program.

I never figured out how to fix an installed copy, I had to completely start from scratch, even going as far as formatting and re installing my OS.

I never had any issue with SAI at all, only once maybe when it failed to even create a 10k pixel canvas because it is too big to work on it programmed space~

Mine does that every time I try to save a PNG, BMP, or JPG file, but I can still save SAI and PSD files.
I just merge all of the layers in Sai and save it as PSD, then use a different art program to save it as a PNG.
