Homesearch 2013
Hey everyone! It's Khorax again.
As some of you may know, back at the end of 2012, I moved to the city of Boston, Mass. I moved here because, quite frankly, the job prospects up here are considerably better than Florida or Providence, and I know a few furs and bears in the area. I have made some good friends here, and would like to stay in town as long as possible. Boston is a large city, with a lot of smaller towns in the Greater Boston Area, which is where I would like to stay. I think I could settle down here and be very happy.
As it stands, however, my current living situation was never meant to be long-term, and my stay here is almost up. Come the end of June, I will need to have a place to move to. While I honestly wish to stay in Boston, if push comes to shove, I can move anywhere in the US. My current roommate is willing to purchase me a ticket to anywhere, if need be. I'd rather not be homeless.
So, I'm putting the word out there that I'm looking for a place to live: a room, preferably. I can pay rent, though I wouldn't want to pay more than $500-$550/mo if possible . It's likely that I will have to find a new job once I move out, but I'm resourceful, friendly and have a good employment record. Most of my past employers will say great things. I have no fear that I'll be able to find a basic job wherever I move, and if it's more long-term, I can continue my job search to something a bit stronger.
I do not have a car, and have to rely on public transportation to get to and fro. I'm both an extrovert and introvert. I love my moments alone, but also enjoy sharing with other people. I'm fine with pets, and do not really smoke or drink, though I may partake on rare occasion. I do not mind if my roommate does either. I'm generally an evening person, although I try not to stay up too late. My work schedule usually determines when I'm active. I enjoy cooking from time to time, and if I cook, I may share with others, depending on my food budget.
So.. That's it. Anyone in the Boston area looking for a roommate? Anyone out there who can offer crash space if not?
Edit: Feel free to reblog this and/or ask questions if you want. The more people who see this, the better at finding a place to go :D Wish me luck!

Florida is a dry desert in terms of employment.... I still haven't hit anything yet. Not even the goddamn BurgerKing. Stay where the jobs are, plant yourself somehow. Budget smart.
Though I am sorry that I can't be of more help. Busy being in college and all.
Don't be put off by imaginary difficulties, though. Moving to Canada and working there is remarkably easy, Canada is really welcoming. A number of my friends have done just that. They decided they wanted to pay higher taxes and receive greater government services in return, and moved. There are plenty forums on these here Interwebs that explain the process which is, again, pretty painless.
Moving to the US, in contrast, was much much harder. The US really makes it difficult to come in legally.
Good luck with your home hunting! Greater Boston is a great area to be in.
So, crash space offered if Boston doesnt work out.
That's way out west for you, obviously, and would mean that Boston didn't work out. Hopefully, that doesn't happen for you. I have some experience in a drastic move that pretty much isolates you from your entire social circle. Adapting to that isn't easy, but if you're in a place that agrees with your personality, it's worth it.
The job market here would work best for you if you're a finance/economics major, a jurist doctorate/lawyer, or work in the technology field (everything from call center to IT to dev to admin). The cost of living here isn't extremely high, but it is higher than average, so it may not be the place for you if don't have at least some experience on your resume in your chosen field.
I came here with plenty of college experience, but virtually no real-world experience and it took me two years before I got past that "paycheck to paycheck" phase.
Hopefully you can stay near the people you know but if it doesn't work out that way, you've got an option here.
If that's something you want to talk about in more detail, feel free to send me a private note and I'll tell you a little more about use and
And best of luck to you in your search.
