One is the loneliest number.. Except when it's Zero
12 years ago
I quickly discovered once going through the comments I needed to clarify and reveal and do a little explaining...
Zero has been with me for almost 2 years and has been a strong representation of my suiting business. He was a really awesome character, being based off of a childhood love Liger Zero from Zoids. I grew up with Zoids and both he and the show had been apart of my childhood as well as when my business started to really come to life. The quad version was my very first quad and remains one of my favorite suits, the toon following up shortly after.
Recently though I realized I haven't used either suit in almost a year, only bringing out the toon suit for a brief hour at MFF2012 for the parade. I've been unable to wear the quad due to an ongoing pain in my right thumb tendon and fear of injuring it worse is keeping me from possibly bringing him out once more...
I wear him.. and he's just not me any more. Ever since I completed Scout, I cannot lock into him any more, the energy and personality just doesn't fit. With such a distinct design there isn't a way I could change any bit of the suits to sell without selling the design with it.
The more I move forward, the farther away I move from my desire to interact as him but the thought of selling him is overwhelming him mostly due to what all would be for sale. We're talking character design, ref sheet, artwork, badges, a full head hood with ears (made of fleece) a full suit that can be worn as a partial and a quadsuit. Not only that, but the wearer would need to fit my measurements... It almost seems like one of those Herculean tasks, just doesn't seem possible.
If I keep him yeah, I will be able to direct what happens to the character, but he would go unused... wasted. I know it's just a design, a pile of material and foam... but he was the character that I took to my first cons... it's all so confusing...
I don't think I would be able to auction him off if I did, mostly accept offers, but I couldn't separate the quad from the full suit... This would seriously take someone dedicated for this. I will admit though, having a quad suit of the same character as a full suit is really quite fun <3
However things go, I'm at a loss at what I should do...

At least it isn't wat I thought I was, at first I read the journal antry and my first thought was. "Oh no, did they break up!?"
I totally know what you are feeling there. I wore my fursuit Slate, and at the time he was really cool and important to me, he still is sentimental. But y'know after learning more about myself / knowing he isn't my sona I too decided it was time for him to go. It took me... six months to get to a point where I could finally say ok and sell him. It was really hard, but to be honest I think it was probably the right decision, My new suits have more life to them and are far more enjoyable to wear, and I know that when I get my sona head from you Its gonna be all over for Slate. So my advice is move on and allow someone to love him and wear him the way you loved to. He may mean the world to someone else as well! Not to mention just because you sell the suit it doesn't mean the memories / good times are lost, they are still around! I would say it is probably best to move on, if you feel detached there isn't much you can do. Even though its hard and really strange to think about! I hope this helps!

A forever mascot for you to just enjoy and love
I think it would be unique
You would have to make a skeletal structure for him to stay up and what not
It may not solve your clutter issue, however I can easily see you in the future owning your own studio reserved purely for your work. After all, creating fursuits is your job and your business grows along with your improvement. In which case, having him there would make for an amazing boost in decor and serve as a tribute to your once humble beginnings. ^-^
And who knows, maybe one day if you decide to have kids, your children could bring him to life once more. 6w6
I love zero, and choices like that are tough, but you're smart person and you'll do what's right for you and zero ^^
ANyway, she needs to be updated because I want to see her updated and good lookin, but I can't bring myself to do it just yet, so I let her sit and I look at her on purpose to see how I feel each time. I don't know if you're in a hurry or anything, but I know you build and build and you need room for your babies!
However, if you really can't decide right now, let your life go on and see how you feel in a few months, maybe? IT might take some strain off of thinking about this, because knowing how many fursuiters and first time suiters don't have the money, its a long shot to sell EVERYTHING about him and hon, your lot is worth more than 3 thou. Techincally speaking zero's quad is worth 3 thou alone and the bipedal suit is probably 2 though or more. :/
My issue with my character is ,I have so many other ideas floating around, I can't afford to do her right now and I've come up with other ideas I'm more interested in. I do feel like I never get her done because I make no money. Not enough to really bounce around and make a bajillion fursuits all the time. I need to open up my fursuit head-base commissions and I can change that.
I would wait a bit though before making a decision on what to do with Zero and Toon Zero. Your decision will become clearer with time. As far as worth goes, that is up to you. Finding someone that would be able to take both may be a little difficult but I would at least try since they are well-known suits. Both suits, especially Toon Zero, are what make your artistic style unique and different from everyone else's.
Honestly, I would love to take both suits if I had a better job and my art was selling. I remember seeing one of your youtube videos last year featuring Toon Zero's head with the old eyes and loving it then and wishing I had something like that...and then I saw the quad LOL. Wearing a quad would certainly be a new experience for me since I have never tried wearing one.
They are both unique and lovely suits and I'm sure they would be appreciated wherever they ended up.
I understand how difficult it is even if it doesn't get the attention now, I know it does still mean something to you deeply to pose the question.
