but this is an epic song anyway, and that fact that a real life real Astronaut is singing Major Tom in space while in a Space Station in space is just Fucking EPIC!
"Decide in your heart of hearts what really excites and challenges you, and start moving your life in that direction. Every decision you make, from what you eat to what you do with your time tonight, turns you into who you are tomorrow, and the day after that. Look at who you want to be, and start sculpting yourself into that person. You may not get exactly where you thought you'd be, but you will be doing things that suit you in a profession you believe in. Don't let life randomly kick you into the adult you don't want to become." -Cmdr. Chris Hadfield
how hard do you think it is for a astronaut to sing that song...I mean like really...I think it had to be super hard for him. He seems to get a little choked up there at the end
He's kinda a big deal to a lot of us here in the states, too. Hadfield is awesome, and hopefully is getting people more willing to invest in both the US AND Canadian space programs...because if it wasn't for Canada, we never would have gone to the moon, among other things. The ISS is a truly international project and probably one of the biggest and best things humanity has ever done, next to the internet.
A delicious tenor voice. Such delicate, thoughtful pipes.
He even nails Bowie's odd double-vowel inflections in the first few "Ma-may-jor Tom"s.
Clearly a Space Cadet of Ziggy Stardust, but at least he need not worry about dealing with any Spiders From Mars.
Bonus Multiplier: the appropriate use of the echo-chamber effect at the end. Very period.
Beyond that, I suppose it's kind of cool, though. ¬_¬

Also, seems the lyrics have been changed to give a more optimistic view of space exploration.
very cool indeed
