Alternate Universe Theory
Well, might as well attempt this because I'm bored and curious.
I propose that two canonical universes were created by Disney in The Lion King Franchise.
AU #1. A universe in which Kiara was never born, and no second child was conceived. (TLK + Books)
AU #2. A universe in which Kopa was never born, and no second child was conceived. (TLK + TLK II)
If you're familiar with Zelda, Star Trek, Sliders, Red Dwarf, or that one episode of Futurama, you've been exposed to the proposal of alternate universes or timelines. What is an alternate universe or timeline? It is a theory from quantum mechanics called the "Many Worlds Interpretation." To simplify this as much as possible, the theory states that all possible outcomes exist; past, present, and future, and exist in their own universe. Every decision that is made or action creates an alternate universe.
Simple Example:
You are presented with a Coke and a Pepsi. You can choose the Coke or You can choose the Pepsi. Based on your choice, a single alternate universe and timeline is created in which you made the opposite choice.
Complex Example:
You go to a convenience store. You can choose to get a Coke, Pepsi, Dr Pepper, Mountain Dew, Sprite, Water, or you can walk out of the store. Based on your choice, six alternate universes are created.
Video Game Example:
In the Legend of Zelda, a time split happens in three places during the Ocarina of Time. In one universe, the Hero of Time was unable to defeat Ganon, causing Ganon to take over Hyrule only to be eventually defeated in the Sealing Wars. But there are two other universes created at the end of Ocarina of Time. The first is the universe where Link defeats Ganon as an adult and is sent back to his childhood where he is able to stop Ganon before he gets the Tri Force. The second is created when Link is sent back to his childhood. Because Adult Link is no longer present, Ganon is revived. With no way of stopping him, Hyrule is flooded by the sages.
The Fun Examples:
In our universe, America won its independence from England. But there is another universe that exists in which the 13 Colonies were defeated by the British.
Or
In our universe, I was born a man, but another universe exists where I was born a woman, and another universe in which I was aborted before my mother came to term.
The Lion King Alternate Universe Theory:
At some point during the film, Nala becomes pregnant. This is the catalyst for the three universes that were created. According to the US Department of Labor (sorry, can't find anything on the statistical probability of lion births), there is a 49% chance a child will be born female and a 51% chance a child will be born male. In the TLK film series, Nala gave birth to a female cub named Kiara, but in the book universe, she gave birth to a male cub named Kopa. Both universes exist according to the Many Worlds Interpretation. Can both universes be considered canonical. Yes. Both universes are supported by their own lore, where the universe with Kiara only is supported by the Second Film, and the universe of Kopa only is supported by the books.
The Lion King Fan Theories:
There is one problem; a large portion of the fans believe in a third alternate universe in which Kopa and Kiara exist. Is this possible? The answer, surprisingly, is yes, however, that also means that two other alternate universes were created as well.
AU #3. A universe in which Kopa and another male cub was born.
AU #4. A universe in which both Kiara and Kopa existed.
AU #5. A universe in which Kiara and another female cub were born.
According to the US Department of Labor (again, can't find anything on the statistical probability of the sex of the second cub a lioness will birth), there is a 50/50 chance of parents with two children to be all the same gender or mixed gender. That being said, three other universes are created the second time Nala conceives. She is equally likely to have produced two male children, two female children, or one male and one female child. Does that mean the fan theory is valid? Yes. According to the Many Worlds Theory, if both AU #1 and #2 exist, in which Nala never again becomes pregnant, AU #3, 4, and 5 also exist, but are they canonical? No. There is no proof in the books or the movies that Nala became pregnant for a second time nor is there proof that she wanted to become pregnant with a second child.

not for alternate universes, not from Hawking reality theories that for every possiblilty there are separate realities, which of course become and ever infinitely increasing number of realities due to infintely more possibilites being creaetd for each alt. of reality, not even from the various temporal concepts and likely paradoxes, they mostly resolve themselves anyways, BUT THE MAAAATTHHH! Is Way too Early for math, and there is yet no COFFEE MADE!!!! AAAAUUUGGHH!
going to go make coffee nao, talk with you later, after blessed encaffeination.
Yeah, they made an anime about it. It's called Code Geass. :P
Interesting ideas, though.
Also, while there's no proof of #4, it would explain why Simba hates Zira so much. He really seems to have a lot more hate for her than just "you followed Scar".
Wasn't Code Geass about England taking over the world?
And besides, not ALL fan fiction is bad. Just most.
You have six choices of soda. Until you make the choice, each universe in which you choose one of those sodas exist. But once the choice is made, the other five collapse on themselves, leaving the one reality you chose. the Langoliers eat the others. I call it the Diminishing Universes theory.
but in another reality I probably hate it.
first thing that came to mind when i saw this journal.
i love the thought of multiverse theory. mostly because of the possibilities that could have happened not from a single decision in the next few minutes, but what could of happened to change the world's progress from way back when. in another world i could be a superhero and that actually intrigues me
