NEVER using From Japan agaaaaain ;;
12 years ago
Seriously so frustrated and huffhuff right now. If I am not confident of the ins-and-outs of a service or how to use it, I'm just not ever going to use it. No matter how nice people say it is.
I bought two items that I saw for a fantastic price. From Japan is a deputy service (i think thats what its called) that bids for you and gets items for you on japanese websites. I ordered a HQ Eevee Plush and a DX Vaporeon plush. I saw it for a fantastic price and thought, gosh heck yeah! They let me know,"Hey we got customs fees and a second payment for shipping from us to you." Was like kay. Dats cool.
So I slap down the money for the items. Not long after, get a quick email saying they have the items. Only thing is.....the second payment is the same ammount I already paid for the items in full, PLUS the customs. I was completely confused! I already paid for the items, but I'm having to put down another 2500yen just to get them to give the items to me. So now I'm looking at my shipping options. FedEx was over 4kyen to use. Soooo was like "No way...thats double what I paid just for the items." So I checked my options, and surface mail seemed the best and cheapest route.
LITTLE DO I KNOW.....that that is going to take 1-3 MONTHS for it to arrive to me! Not only do I feel jipped, I am extremely angry and frustrated. They only tell me it will take that long AFTER I pay it. Didn't see where I was supposed to look to see how long something was supposed to ship, that information wasn't handy. So now I'm just a ball of anxiety and irritation that I have to wait this long for these two lil thangs, that ended up costing me more to SHIP than to PURCHASE. So apparently Surface Mail is a VERY BAD THING. I don't even know. Yeah these items are coming from Japan, but honestly now....is shipping really that ridiculous?? I don't know what to think just....guh so angry and frustrated right now. Needed a good loooong rant.
From now on I am NOT using from japan. Too confusing, my simpleton mind cannot understand it or use it without being out a lot of money. I'll have to end up trying to sell the eevee plush to try and make up for the cost...
Sticking to ebay from now on. Even if the prices are much higher than you can get them for in japan, it makes up for it when you compare it with other sites you try out on your own. Uuuughhhh hold meeee. ;;
Edit:: Osht sorry for the three sudden journals. Swear I only clicked once. ;;

I'm also waiting on an order that I placed a month ago. Slow ass shipping is slow.
I try to consider myself a pretty passionate vaporeon collector, and love to focus on just official merchandise. Sadly, that merchandise runs a pretty penny when china can do it for so cheap. ;;
I've seen haunter plush and wow are they stupid cute! xD <3
Thankyou very much. :3c
EVER.
...it's always bootleg.
We bought one thing from Hong Kong that was actually legit, because it was something NO ONE CARES ENOUGH TO BOOTLEG.
But yeah, when it comes to anime goods, "be a little racist", do not buy from China.
But the problem is, most people don't know this, buy bootlegs from Hong Kong, and then resell them in online garage sales at "official goods" prices. I see it ALL the damn time. xD And it sucks.
Too many people are not knowledgeable about Japanese goods, and it sucks that they get duped like, 99% of the time - Anime conventions tend to sell mainly bootlegs, too.
Some items are also not available in an "official" form, like the Kingdom Hearts plush people like so much - There are no official KH human plush (only three official plush exist that I know of, and none of thew are humans), so when I got some of these as a gift, I didn't mind. But I do see people buying them and adding them to their "collection" as though they are official. -_-
...I can't, and that sucks, because it was funny and true at the same time, but I did find this: http://www.otakunews.com/piratefaq.php
...That's a bit lengthy, but informative.
Although I think the easiest way is to have a list of websites known to sell legit products. I know of quite a few!
In this modern day, I didn't think it would take that long. :/
reading up on the new Xbox One failures.
...But the problem with Ebay, American websites, and anime conventions is that 99% of the Japanese goods there are bootleg. -_- And EVERYONE BUYS THE BOOTLEGS, thinking they're real. I fucking hate bootlegs. -_-
It's so hard to get legitimate anime/game goods that aren't movies, CDs, or games. *Sadface*
Air mail is a lot faster, but even more expensive, because now you're essentially buying your shipment a plane ticket.
There's no way around it, getting things straight from Japan is going to cost you.
from japan must be a shopping service? yeah for those you have to pay a (usually modest sized) fee to them for locating your items for you, its how they make their money. I assume thats what that extra 2500 was for. ahhh buying things from other countries is always a sad and rather pricey reality~
Try Play-Asia.com --> http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71.....n-70-2srv.html
...Although if that's the game you're looking for...it seems to be sold out. D: Sorry about that.
But yeah, Amazon's sellers will rape you on imports, and a lot of them are even bootlegs tagged with official model numbers and photos - NEVER GO THERE FOR IMPORTS. xD
If I ever run across this game at a decent price, I'll let you know. Can't leave a fellow gamer hangin'.
I'll keep an eye out for it, this kind of thing drives me mad, so if I EVER find it at a decent price, I will let you know. x3
.
Yep. International shipping is always a bitch. I've bought some stuff from Japan before, specifically, a box of Final Fantasy Trading Arts PV figurines. I'm glad I got the whole set, including the secret in one go, but the shipping is extremely high. While you might pay more from a State-side importer, it's usually about the same when you consider they have to go through customs, probably pay as a Free Carrier, then the shipping, even if it's via 'slow boat'...
Yeah. In short, while you pay more state-side, it's often the same as all the leg work you'll have to do yourself, plus all the stuff you'll have to pay yourself, with the exception that their priced might be slightly more reasonable since they can order in bulk
Surface Mail is literally the opposite of airmail, it gets loaded into a container and put on a ship and spends a month at sea, then a week in customs like everything else. Don't expect it to be quick, ships-with an average speed of 15 miles per hour-are not quick.
Also in the process theres an implied sense that you know what your doing, it seems to be a Japanese thing to assume that you know what your doing if your not asking questions. There is also a tendency to avoid answering questions that you cant really answer, like shipping times, which can only be somewhat estimated, this combined with the assumption that you know what your doing means you only get a list of shipping services with no time estimates. If you know what your doing, you select EMS, pay the ransom and wait.
Admittedly, it was a used book: the book was $0.01 and the shipping was $3.99.
The only thing thus far that I've seen is that they make it seem like you MUST HAVE tracking on internal (to them from the seller) shipping or it will be lost. I don't like that. I haven't found out how much it is yet, but oh well. I don't think I'll use them again - it's too complicated and confusing.
I really love Shopping Mall Japan though, I suggest them :) If you go onto Pkmncollectors on LJ they have lots of tutorials for middleman agents.
But yeah, usually the shipping cost and/or the custom payment tend to make a cheap deal into something not special anymore. Sorry to hear. *hugs*
