“And it is still true, no matter how old you are -- when you go out into the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together.”
So here's my theory. The lovely people at Microsoft got tired of making money. They got tired of the consoles business and wanted to do something so irrevocably stupid that their next console would not only crash and burn but take a large chunk of the fanbase with it.
Enter Xbox one.
Not only does it require you have an internet connection at all time but it forces you to use the kinects controller and also stops you selling off your games you no longer want its not backward compatible and you cant share games with your friends.
Hello Microsoft? Have you gone insane? Is this an April fools joke come late? Or are you making up all this bad stuff so when it's finally launched you can laugh and say "tricked you" and then everyone will breath a sigh of relief and laugh at the insane joke you just pulled.
There's still time for this to all be a bad joke but from the various press releases I've been reading I don't think their planning to dig themselves out of this hole. In fact they're digging it deeper and putting a gravestone at the head.
I'm a ps3 kinda girl anyway.

Nintendo & Microsoft in Washington State
I dunno, it's still cool that it will play the ps1 games and stuff. And it's really cool so I don't really know why I'm complaining because I still really really want one
Kind of a cop out if you ask me.
XBox however has gone off the deepend.... 100% online requirement, the second you put the disc in it installs to that profile, and charges a $5-20 fee to use that particular disc on another XBox (or even another user profile on the -same XBox One-)
Yea.... and best of all, for you Gemma: http://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=KbWgUO-Rqcw
If that's true there is no saving this console. Requiring a family to buy an extra copy of a game for every member of a household is unprecedented extortion.
(You don't remember Max Headroom? Come on, Britain created him!)
it's always on so it can detect your habits and provide 'targeted' marketing.
think google ad-sense but on steroids.
they saw the huge market of used games and thought they deserved a share, so they disabled it except in cases where you get the privilege of of paying them to use the right of used games.

if it can do that, what stops it from say, seeing a coke can in it's field of view and then presenting you with ad's for coke products?
Tell that to the console developers. o.O Or PC game developers. Or .. I don't know.
But yes, what they are doing with the new xbox is really bad (even if I'm not console player)
The only plus is side is that now games might look a bit better now. As the graphic power of the "new gen" consoles is comparable to a lower mid-range PC now. And the new consoles are running on PC hardware so developing for different platforms is easier now.
yet another generation with no backwards compatability and even less usability. ugh...
the only reason i even got the ps3 was for assassins creed and devil may cry. I'd thought it was fully backwards compatible. noooooooope. though the ps1 games play fine, which was a plus O.o
Tho from what I seen so far I am not impressed with the new Xbox one system.
Also remember this is Microsoft, when do they ever do what is what its customers want?
So far the ps4 is looking like the sure win.
this has been a horrible set-up by microsoft, and to be honest, when the year started and I heard the first bit of bad news about gaming, the whole events surrounding Aliens: Colonial Marines, I was worried that this year would be a bad, bad year for gaming in general. the most i've seen that i've gotten excited for is stuff i've already played, stuff i've played with better graphics, Pikmin 3, Last of Us, and a few other ones...really, this bit by microsoft has me not even happy or surprised.
And I also made a journal what it has.

This stinks and it's not me giggles.
Seriouly i was a Playstation fan for many years, but now then i got a good desktop computer, i praticly not use my PS3 anymore exept for netflix and crunchyroll for watching video, everything is better, video quality, sound, playability, seriously i realy did not know what i switched for consol in the first place:)
The technology behind the new Kinect is actually really interesting- I'm told the old one never got the treatment it deserved because it was never really attached to the xbox. Now that it's fully integrated with it, they've made huge improvements on recognition and given it a LOT of neat tricks- voice commands in-game being a big one. As for having to use the new controller? With every new Nintendo system there's been a new controller- Wii-U has that bulky gimmick of an extra screen on theirs that's trying to impersonate a mini-tablet. We tried that with the dreamcast, it wasn't that great. All it does is distract from the immersiveness of the game.
Yes it sucks that it's not backwards compatible- but neither was the PS3. People raised hell about that for all of a month before buying it anyway. xD Not to mention it would dramatically up the price of their console, due to the fact that likely it would need a whole 'nother disk reader. Yes it sucks that you can't trade games but, as a PC gamer, I can safely say since I've been unable to do that since my account was created eight years ago back in Nov. of 2004... it's really not that bad. You actually end up going back and playing more games than you used to because it's there ready for you digitally, neatly listed in a nice lil library with no chance to be randomly lost/stolen/never seen again by said friend you loan it to. If you wanna play with your friends, support the people who made the game and buy a copy~ So you can play multiplayer! :3
In short it's really not as bad as people are making it out to be. Don't mistake my text as being blunt or mean, I'm not saying you're wrong, that's my opinion and text has a way of sounding cold sometimes. PC gaming has become the way of life for me, but the progression of the technology attached to the new xbawx really interests me. I'm looking forward to hearing my roomie go "FUS RO DAH!" at 3am x3
That sounds like a number less than 360...?
I'm confused.
And now they thought they should call it "One" because it unifies a full media-center in one place. Some call it a good name, I call it a lack of creativity...
I wonder if Unity will refuse to make a plugin for Xbox One...
Either way, I'm more of a Handheld and PC gamer, you can't use a trackball mouse on any gaming consoles that I know of at this time.
muhahahahahahahahaha!!!!!
Thank goodness for ebay, I can just continue to buy old games for my xbox360.
Maybe even find a ps1 and the old spyro games. I miss those.
It was certainly a seriously stupid move to pull all this. They had such an amazing console and they just blew it completely. They just want to drain our wallets as much as possible now.
