We Were Declined

Okay, here's the scoop:
We are in the final phase of getting the sewer fixed at our house. The outfit came to do the visual "scoping" of the sewer pipe and we found out that the sewer goes out the FRONT of our building and UNDER the Garden Apartment! Can you imagine????
They wanted $3500 to finish and I filled out a loan sheet, and was DECLINED. The guy called back and said that we will have to pay IN CASH the FULL $3500.00 by tomorrow.
I managed to do some cash advances on my charge cards (which I will regret) and took $1000.00 from bills to pay. A good friend loaned me $700.00. We have $2800.00.
Tomorrow at 8 a.m. I will; give this to him and pray that they will let us give him the rest when he is done.
I have never felt like a "bottom-feeder" until today. God help me, I am at the end of my rope and told MuscleWolf that if he wants to leave, he could. Why should he hang around?
I DO want to thank Karmakat and Zigzagziggy for helping us out, financially. I couldn't have gotten this far without them both.
BUT we are $700.00 short.
Please pray for us. if we don't get this fixed I'll lose the upstairs tenants. And without their rent money, we won't be able to make the mortgage. And we'll lose the building.

That was the one, biggest blessing. By her leaving, my interests went to the furry fandom, where I found my true love and husband.
*huggies* I hope some good happens soon. I'll try to help if I can.
I am simply amazed that, in this economy, there are people out there that would rather you fail than giving you a second chance.
But I'm sure you'll be ok and I'm also sure that MW will not leave you. You two are already in my prayers from long time and I always will keep you in my toughts. "hugs you tight"
Does the Museum you work for pay you in advance for the work you promise to do next week?
What’s to stop him from taking the money and then giving you the HA-HA Finger as he drives away laughing?
Any Better Business Bureau would strongly advice you against doing that! The standard agreement is half down (to buy the materials to do the job) and then the other half only after the job is done to your satisfaction.
If the contractor thinks you are going to stiff him for the money because you really might not have it, then open up a bank account with the money and then show him the bankbook to prove that the other half of the money is in escrow.
I will never use them again because of the incredible strong-arm tactics they did to me. And I certainly won't give them any stars on Yelp, since I am Elite Reviewer.
Giving a contractor more than half what is owed sends the wrong signal -- “we are rolling in money”.
They ask for $1750 and you give them $2000 (because it is such a round number).
Next time you buy groceries that total up to say $12, give the cashier a twenty and leave. That will make them think that you are important and rich and they will respect you (ho ho ho).
Have faith, things tend to work out in the end.
