What kind of stuff do you want to use it for? Games, utilities, hobby, photography, exercise, maybe music? There's a lot you can adapt it to.

I'm more of a gamer myself, but I have a few apps that cater to my writing hobbies, as well as music stuff.

Yay! I love the twitter app for it. Try out Draw something, words free, tetris, or even browse the store for some classic RPG's and stuff. There's quite a lot of Square enix games on there, and I would also recommend Infinity Blade :3. If you wanna look up movies and showtimes, Fandango and Flixster are definitely awesome! Also, get some mobile banking apps so you can check your account, and not to mention any app you can use to pay your bills n stuff.

Well to start off, get a QR Reader. "Scan" is pretty good, and it's free, but there are tons of readers in the market, try a few out and see what you like. You should also download any chat clients you use, say for example skype or yahoo. Make sure to download the youtube app, because it's weird to be without it. Instaframe is fun for messing with your photos, and it can even make some pretty neat collages, but obviously, there are tons of photo modifying apps out there, so try a few and see which one you prefer. You can download instagram if your into that sort of stuff. If you use tumblr or twitter, there's an app for that...those are pretty much the basics for now. No games per your request.

Shazam is a must, followed by Mercury (it's a web browser, ten times better than safari or chrome). Also Pandora (if you listen to it) Google Maps, Instagram, YouTube, and The Weather Channel. These are my top reccomended, and they're all free.
