Way back when, in the days when I gave a damn about Antarctic Press, I had a poster of the first issue's cover. I thought I would want to read it, and given that I was a numpty idiot at the time I probably would have liked it. After all, at that time I had never heard of "author avatar" or "cheap contrivance." I had also never heard of "gender presumptions", "heteronormativity" and "cheaply scraping up Fred Perry's scraps and swiping from better Japanese artists."
After reading Mister Kitty's review... I can see this was a remarkably cheap and trashy piece of agitprop for Der Kommissar of Pagan Love und Fake Tolerance (und Heteronormative Sexuality Only.) It's actually pretty blatant and bad. And that's me saying this, someone who takes a stance againstthe same types of fundamentalist Christianity. But I try to be notably less... completely inept. And more informed about... history, comparative religion, contempoary culture, gender issues, general reality. Little things like that.
No real reason to make this journal. But I found the Stupid Comics page and I found this thing. There's also a comic about the death of Jerry Garcia... looking like it was rendered by the hand of one of the anonymous drones responsible for the laughable Shanda the Panda (talk about grilled sacred cows.)

I find grilled Sacred Cow is always better with a side of sauteed mushrooms.

All the toppings and sides are just right for sacred beef.

If you grill sacred cows, you end up with holy hamburgers.

They're divinely sacreliscious.

Sacredelicious.

It was bad, but not that much worse than Mister Kitty's review of it, sadly.

I just found it hilarious. I never read it before but once thought the cover was sexy. Now I see that I would have liked it for all the wrong reasons because I was young and stupid and lacked proper reasoning capabilities.
