As an artist I love drawing people characters I also find it important to know a bit about that characters personality and history so I can feel the character when I'm drawing them. Sometimes people send me lots and lots of info about their characters background but neglect to mention what species they are or color or markings lol. Personality and background are important but I kinda need the visual description more *giggling*

Also if you pay me money by PayPal you need to out your fa name in the PayPal note. When I have 16 people paying me 30 dollars each it makes it impossible to tell who is who. I am gonna hafta look into how to do. Invoicing I think.

Finally I just wanted to say if I ever decide to leave this website I promise here and now I won't remove a thing. I won't delete this account and I won't delete any journals. A few people seem to have randomly up and left this place without a peep and it kinda not only makes me sad but kinda annoys me too. I invested time in these people tried to help them listened to them and they're just gone without so much of a goodbye. Was our friendship that awful that you couldn't be bothered to even say goodbye. Was i just...disposable?
It's sad and I just wanted to say if I ever decide to go away I'll at least leave this page intact because it's not just my page but everyone who has ever bothered to write to me or comment on a pic or anything.

I like to have big descriptions, but then again some people leave out ALOT of stuff in the big storyline of said character. i remember i had one that gave me no reference-- or name, a long background and then another note came an hour later after i noted them and they were like "whoops!" x3

I have the same problem with some commissioners-- but then again, there those who put their Username in a memo on paypal, which is nice, and organized whenever it happens :D

You dont plan on leaving anytime soon right? Your art is getting awesomer and awesomer every new pic!

I do find having a characters personality ambulatory really important and helpful when drawing but when I. Then don't get and physical description that just makes me giggle hehe

And nope nope I don't envisage myself going away anytime soon I just wanted to make a vow that my page here will remain intact if I ever do go

I don't really need a description like that, and for me it just adds uneccessary text and stress. I can usually gauge a character's personality pretty well based on the other drawings someone has gotten of it.

you have a point there.
knowing the character produces a different outcome than simply doodling from a ref sheet.

more life behind them. O.o (is that why drawing my own comes out better than drawing others, that lack of story depth?)

and I commend you for that. thats always a sad part of seeing someone go, and they just rip out everything and i'm like, whyyyyy? there was no reason for that DX

I don't really need to know about the character per se, but I do tend to like to have a decent description of what the commissioner/requester wants. I know some artists like to have freedom with a pic, but I don't like such a bare-bones description that I have to basically make up everything in the pic except the character and what they're wearing.

I too like to have as much information as possible about a character before I draw or do anything involving them. It's why I've written 100+ pages of freakin' backstory for my own! It really does help put life into a drawing the more you know about somebody, I think, whether it's written descriptions or a large backlog of previous works.

Now I wish I had said goodbye when I left. I was just in a rotten mood the day I did and it was somewhat hastily decided. I feel kind of douchey because I am now one of those people who leaves and comes back and it is my second time doing it. I dunno, sometimes people need a break. I know I did. It is stupid to delete EVERYTHING though....

At least I'm back now though, right?

Also, ignore my icon, I'm drawing a new one. XD

It is indeed good you're back. A few people have come back recently I think it takes a lot of guts to cut everyone and everything off and then come back

Some people like a lot of description about their characters, some don't. I usually like to provide a place for a commissioner to provide some insight to their character if they wish to provide it. Otherwise for me a ref usually suffices. But if you take the time to tell me extra details, there's a good chance some of those details might make it into the finished picture...

And disclaimer..I'm one of those commissioners that will attempt to conduct right down to the exact pose and hand placement a character should be taking. I'm so horrible to my fellow artists in that regard... ^_^;

Truthfully I can work to vague ideas or exact positioning I don't really have a preference so long as the person I'm working with doesn't start chopping and changing their mind too much. :)

I never gave much thought about background info when comissioning art. Mostly tho i get badges but isuppose in that could be influenced by the back groumd info.

I have several decent ref sheets but i may start including more infor like that. Its a good idea

I've been commishing artists thru paypal long enough that i automatically include my fa name. Also its kinda in the paypal its self. But i could see how that would be an issue with a high.volume of people paying for.commissions

I also hate how some artists and people just leave the site at random or just delete everything posted on here. their good artwork and everything. :( I know how you feel. also I hope you don't leave the site at random either. you're also a good friend. :3
